I've gotten as little as 90 gold for a kill before :\
We had a Teemo one time that intentionally fed our team so they'd get Legendary, then they'd 4man gank him for 1000 gold + a ton for the assists, while the guy he was feeding was getting MAYBE 90g per kill.
ended up losing that game, too, with a Teemo on the other team who was 0-50 some

Kills always grant a fixed amount of money depending on the current "killing spree" of the person killed. Assists split 70% of the gold the kill gave among the people who were assisting.

In addition, I have no idea how Assists work either. I've heard that the killer gets a fixed amount of gold and the assisters split up a certain amount, but IDK. I've gotten as little as 38 gold for an assist and as little as 150 gold for a kill.
In addition, the minion system is weird too. I get varying amounts of gold for killing minions, and it's never really constant - anyone want to enlighten me?
