Me and my mates noticed that once
We reckon it was just put in a little joke from the developers :P

Its annoying I had sorta picked up on this stuff although I didn't realise that you got so little gold for ***its etc sometimes
I do rememeber one game though my mate stop killing champions because he wasn't getting enough gold :L
