I prefer the AP Ziggs bot with Sorcery as the main and Resolve as the second (and I only go support). I've had much more success doing it this way then maxing my Q first and W second.
Love the guide! :)
TBH I have been on somewhat of a "League Break" but I will refresh the guide to 9.4 and do more for 9.5 coming soon. Due to lack of good quality recording, I don't have any good videos for this guide atm.
Thanks so much for your kind reply! I hope you will like the content I will bring in the future.
I stumbled across your guide today and not gonna lie i do like some stuff.
I do wonder, you never really explain why you would play Ziggs Support ? Why should i or anyone else play Ziggs over other Support champions? What can he bring to the role that will outmatch other Support choices?
You never really explain why you would go Ghost over other summoner spells, it seems like a really odd choice and even though you are really weak and vulnerable especially when you don't have Satchel Charge ready whenever you need the time to be able to escape a tricky situation, i would rather suggest going Exhaust or Heal instead, as it both helps your Marksman with kiting especially if you are going Exhaust but it can also open up a chance to save the Marksman or yourself if you have Heal. Of course going Ghost boosts your own kiting power which is a good thing, but besides that the spell doesn't really have much use.
I wouldn't really put Twitch in the D-tier laners, more or less in the C-tier if not B-tier, yeah sure he doesn't have the best capabilities to shred turrets but together with his late game powerspike he can be way more dangerous then you would think.
Otherwise good looking guide. +1
EDIT: It's 4AM and I'm exhausted from coding two guides for 5 hours :'( I will reply back later today.
First, I explained in the "What Is Ziggs Support?" chapter a brief description of the functionality of this unique style of play. I've condensed the rest in a spoiler. TLDR? Ziggs is good for taking towers, clearing waves & applying CC.
Second, I explained my reasoning for Ghost in the "Summoner Spells" chapter. Here's a more in-depth explanation:
Third, I will agree with some of what you said about Twitch. Based on statistics from API data gathered by Mobalytics, Twitch as an individual is making a big surprising resurgence in the metagame for Season 9. It's only a matter of months before he comes back into contention for God-Tier status. But as for his laning phase with Ziggs, the synergy isn't there. Here's why:
I hope this clarified some of the questions you had. If you have anymore, please let me know & I can answer as best as I can.
first of all, let me say that I really like your guide and value the time you've dedicated for it. I know that creating and updating a guide can be extremely time-consuming.
I noticed that you're explaining Heal in the summoner spells section twice. Maybe you could add the two paragraphs together and add some more pictures of Ziggs. These could be fanarts, Skin Splashes or other things - even videos of skill sequences or ability explanations.
However, I love that your guide is so extremely in depth that I can't think of anything else you could possibly add. I think especially your gameplay section stands out because it's very well-written and focuses on so many important details.
Keep up your amazing work! :)
Wicked Cherry.
I first got the idea for Ziggs Support back in mid season 6 when they introduced the tower mechanic on his W. And I've been playing Ziggs Support since Season 7 right before they changed the runes. And as the metagames keep changing every few months, Ziggs has slightly been getting better overall as a champion in Mid, Bot and Support!
I'm waiting for Patch 9.1 to do all of the serious editing once I get some time to do it. With a lot of IRL stuff going on, I've only been able to do tweaks & fixes.
Again thank you so very much for replying! I wanted to make an achievement for myself as being the first and only writer of "The Most In-Depth Comprehensive Ziggs Support Guide You Will Ever Find!" I also added in those extra tips & tricks that every Ziggs player should know like not needing a minion wave to execute a tower at the percentage range.
I will keep up my work and improve more for Season 9. Thanks a lot!
Rasta Da Masta (AKA Rasta Phil).
Haha, I'm pretty sure you're either in the very top group of that list if not the best already.
I'm not really a Ziggs player but I enjoy playing him once in a while and I really know that as Lulu main he can be super duper annoying - mostly because once you feel save, you'd still have to be afraid (and prepared) to Flash from his Mega Inferno Bomb which would still probably be your death sentence if placed well.
Anyway, I'm kinda thrilled to see your Season 9 changes. x]
See ya!
Also, I have read about some interesting tower mechanics for Preseason as well as rune changes. Looks exciting!
THanks this was the most helpful tip honestly...
them videos tho
I'm so glad you liked this guide!
The reason why Sorcerer's Shoes are more valuable than Ionian Boots of Lucidity is because IBoL only gives you 20 AP from Transcendence when you hit lv 10 and you have 30% CDR from other items (Support item, Sheen, Blue buff, Kindlegem, etc.). The 18 magic penetration from boots is immediate on purchase and doesn't require a wait time. And by the time you would get the 20 AP from Transcendence, the outer towers would scale up to about 65-70 MR.
Another point I need to make is that Inner towers start at 55 armor & magic resistance. They start ramp up over time at 16 minutes and cap at 70 resistances at 30 minutes. Inhibitor & Nexus towers start at 55 as well. But they don't start increasing until the 31 minute mark & hit the 70 cap at 45 minutes. Because of the nature of Zigg's kit being very effective against towers, you are able to blow up towers fairly easily before they ramp up. This becomes easier with more magic penetration. For more information about how towers work, you can read the wikia page for Turrets or watch the first video I have linked on the guide.
I mentioned in the guide that Ziggs is not very reliant on having sums to perform his jobs. You aren't playing a champion that requires Flash to function optimally like Alistar, Thresh, Rakan, etc. So having a lower Flash cooldown won't improve your functionality. And to be honest if I didn't need flash to escape out of all-in dives in the bot lane, I would just run Ghost/TP or Ghost/Cleanse.
Thanks again for your question about the shoes. I will probably put what I covered in this comment somewhere in the guide when I edit it again in a few weeks for patch 8.19.
I really like Ziggs conceptually, as I've always really liked characters that make use of big booms to get the job done, but I usually play Support. I was wondering how effective this build has been for you, and how well Ziggs support has worked for you.
I've played Brand, Vel'Koz, and Xerath as support, and people don't seem to bat an eye with them, despite them being extremely focused on damage with arguably less utility than Ziggs (barring, Brand), but I get the feeling that people will think I'm trolling if I tried to play Ziggs support in a ranked game
I have to admit that as of late, there has been a lack of "consistency" with my play on Ziggs Support. And if I were to rate Ziggs in a tier list for support, he would probably be in B tier.
His significance in a team is similar to that of 3 Mountain Dragons. What I mean by that is if your team isn't ahead and can't siege towers, he doesn't have a lot of usefulness as far as dealing damage (compared to other AP supports), peeling for teammates, and defending sieges.
I haven't played much Ziggs in ranked since most of the time I can't find a good team composition or duo partner. Also, since a part of the build changes just about every patch, I just haven't been able to get to that "Consistency Comfort Zone" yet.
People will think you are "Trolling" if you play any champion & perform poorly. And with this "All or Nothing" style, it can feel like everyone hates you if things don't go well. I don't let people's words or thoughts affect me and I try to focus on my gameplay.
I played one rank game with Ziggs Support. It was my first game that day so I didn't warm up well and went 0/8/10. My team still won the game since the top half of our map got fed. Even though I was 0/3/4 since their jungler camped bot, I still managed to help my team snowball by pushing waves and taking towers and denying enemy vision to setup picks for my team.
And I assume that means you'll have a much easier time when you're performing well and can get bot for your team as well as doing the regular support stuff...
Well that's pretty neat, thanks for answering! Any general advice before I start stealing turrets?
Also, I'm currently trying to update the guide for the variety of champions in the bottom lane. I don't have very accurate testing data since I haven't played Ziggs in lane with Yasuo, Vladimir, Brand, etc.
