I recommend watching youtube videos, streams, and actually reading from start-to-finish the guides on your champions (not just build orders etc).
If you're getting a lot of negative K/D ratios, then you are probably not map aware'd and you overextend too much. Perhaps you don't know when to go for a gank, and when to stay in your lane. Perhaps you aren't reporting or reading MIAs. Perhaps you think you are superman and rush into battles that are definitely a lost-cause.
Would you mind posting a screen shot (with the match details clicked on, on one of your long-matches) of your match history?

If you're planning on playing ranked games, the most important part is being able to play a variety of roles well. Really, you want to be able to play 2-3 of each of these classes decently, and 1 of them well:
-Tanky-dps/Offtank
-Melee carry
-Ranged carry
-AP
-Tank
-Jungler
Of course, some of them fit more than one category at once ;)

If you're going to play ranked games, you should get good at the process of banning/first picking/counter picking. You need to know which champions to ban (for instance, if you plan on playing a team comp revolving around destroying towers quickly, ban TF & Shen. Otherwise, just ban as many tanks as you can).
If you have the first pick, choose a strong tank that wasn't banned (mostly because good tank champions are rare and they're often banned quickly; other good champions can be first-picked as well, such as FotM irelia, janna, or zilean). Even if you're not good with this champion, you can pick them then trade with an ally who might want to play them.
Lastly, if you fall in the 4th or 5th pick, plan to choose a champion to fill the role your team is missing, AND to counter the enemy. You need to look at their carry champions and try to build to counter them. For instance, if you see a Ryze and an Ashe, Trundle might be a good counter-pick (if your team needs a jungler): He might not be a great first pick, but his ultimate chews away at Ryze's defenses (and ryze is easily one of the tankiest mages out there), and his Q spell can also take away from Ashe's attack damage. Gangplank can be a guaranteed counter to many carries by keeping them underleveled with his deny.
Likewise, you need to build to either match or counter the enemy's strengths. Vladimir on the enemy team? Play urgot or anivia, and hit him from afar without letting him heal up on you. Enemy katarina? Take some quick-to-use hard CC, such as Sion or Taric. Likewise, having on-the-fly silences such as Cho'gath or Kassadin will be useful against Fiddlesticks (if he's silly enough to ult in plain view). Is there a strong enemy AP nuke, that stacks AP mostly and is very squishy? Veigar is the perfect pick, his ultimate absolutely destroying squishies. There are also simple counters to some champions: Take cleanse against Sion, take ignite against Vladimir or Mundo, take mercury's treads against Galio and Amumu.

@SatansFate
thank you sooo much SatansFate me and my friends were gonna start practicing for ranked soon and im glad you told me that i should work on more then one type of champ cause i nkow it doesnt just mean me i can tell my friends that and hopefully i wont have to be tank all the time and get to try out new champs, nothing against tanks. but thanks again for the help! :D
@trojan995
Wow thats alot to start working with and practicng for i actually had no idea i thought it was just gonna be like a normal game just with early teamfights and more wards and potions, ive tried to co-ordinate with my friends on who should be wich champ and to make sure its as even as it can be but for some reason 3 out of 4 of the friends i have on my team all the time want to be some kind of high damage champ, and then complain about no teamwork when im running around as the only tank trying to help everyone stay alive, sorry about the rambaling but i want to thank you for this information i feel this will help out ALOT for when i decide to give up my ranked virginity lmao, but seriously im gonna have my friends read this thread so they can understand how to start getting ready for ranked matches. thanks again!

Very good advice Trojan and Satan.
Also, isn't there a good way to prepare for ranked games?
To me, I think, that unless I'm winning like 75% of my Normal games at level 30, only then should I consider going into ranked otherwise, I still need to improve my skills first--don't you think there is some kind of strategy to prepare for it?
Like Satan said, should also first learn champs that fit these different roles well enough, so that you can easily pick any champion and be comfortable with it. So my plan is, since I am still only lvl 23, learn as many champions as I can first, collect up rune pages etc.
I need to understand more about strategy of when to gank, when to push, when to do dragon, when to ward and best places to be---because 99% of games seems to be determined by good self-placement (right-time-right-place), where you are can make a big difference in terms of ganking and owning up early-mid game, and snowballing that success to endgame.
My only other true weakness (which is probably a very common weakness amongst new players like myself), is understand situations and counters. When to buy more magic-resist/defense?
Sometimes I get confused, I see really good players, who, in some games, they will just buy all the AP items, get that
fast, build that
, then build that
--but then, same champ, but in another game, he builds it different, he gets
,
(on an AP champ too),
(even though there isn't that much CC on other team, only one Ryze) which the question becomes "how is he dealing any damage with that build?"
So that is a weakness, how to know when to build defensively, when to build offensively. Since gold is a major problem, you have to sacrifice either attack or defense. My usual strategy is, just go all offense, as offensive as possible, and hit and run--but this doesn't always work in my favor.
Sorry for derailing the topic a bit, but I thought it would be helpful to most people in this forum.
