When the new-champ frenzy dies down, guide-restrictions are lifted, and serious guides can duke it out.
The frenzy is guaranteed to be over, because first-impressions of the champion will be completed, and a new-champ sneak-peek will be out to drive everyone mad in a new way.

Actually, this is false. The majority of the raters/guide makers on this site are what you refer to - quite accurately, I might add - as "mindless sheep". Regardless of how long the testing period has been, when guides are able to be released, voting will still be the pit of hell that it's been every two weeks. If anything, the extra time gives users more time to write their guide, but won't impact voting very significantly.

Although it is an arguably better system than what we have now.

Each guide is only one facet of a champion's potential, and I would presume the Trundle or Gangplank builds you refer to are just the most effective in their aspect. (and you don't recommend them merely because they fall out of your preference)

No, actually, these two particular builds are not number 1 because of differing reasons - the Trundle guide was most active when there was no comment to vote system, and was also a "new" build, while the other current #1 Trundle guide was released weeks after Trundle's release, when the mandatory comment system was put into place. The Gangplank guide was made quite a while ago, and was changed rather significantly with the patch to Phantom Dancer and now is no longer nearly as good as it was before - yet it remains there from month-old votes.

TL;DR - the veteran system is GENERALLY reliable enough to know which guides are definitively very good, and generally the highest rated guides with veteran recommendations deserve to be there and probably would have gotten there regardless of recommendations. Also note that MOST 2nd or 3rd recommendations on a guide occur AFTER the guide has already obtained a highly rated position, usually in the top 10.

You're overlooking the fact that people will have actually tried the champion.
There would be LESS any more trigger-finger votes for what "looks" good.

An increase in people's actual experience with a champion, be it through using other guides from other sites, or making up their own builds, would improve the placement of votes in a very implicit fashion.

Well, that's a problem even deeper then reccommendation badges and sheep/troll votes.
It's an issue with a lack of attention to other guides once a person finds one they like; I may make a thread about this later.

Also, you considering those lower-ranked guides the best is still a personal opinion/experience.
It'd viable to say not all Veterans would agree with you.

True, true.

Again, it's extremely difficult to balance a voting system that is supposed to be community based. Not much else to say until the admins reach some type of decision. >.>

I don't like the comment-to-vote system hence why it's being used on only one of my guides. I want to get rid of it TBH.

@Matt, FlashJ: Don't take it as if we think you did a bad job with the changes. We all agreed on the system at the time, but I do agree (and from what it seems like, you do too) that the system needs some kind of change.

I feel like this is something that ordinary members need to comment on too, though. Jun at least has taken the initiative to post this.

True :) But it's already a thread about it, you know. Further discussion would take place no matter what. Could also post that it's open for discussion :D Meh. I'm just rambling.

Hey if you guys want to get rid of it, just rally up and let us know. I've never liked the system personally, but if we pull it now and we don't have a consensus people are going to rage all over again.

Well, most of the users on this site probably like the system and aren't seeing anything past the benefits of "Higher rating on my guide!"

Also, what would we do upon getting rid of the system? Go back to anonymous no-comment voting? Tbh if we make it comment-to-vote but then open voting to guests and anonymous users, all it's going to do is increase the number of comments that are "lol bad" or "don't like it".

You need to log in before commenting.
