If you've got a tank with fortify, and champions that can defend a turret well (Janna), then backdoor for sure. Shaco shouldn't really be at a teamfight other than to pick off the guys running away.
Also, @ AP v. AD Sion:
I think AD has its advantages (like jungling), but it's more of a support carry role. It's like a tryndamere wailing at you that heals his whole team with his hits. AP Sion is a better farmer for sure. Also, AD can push towers like crazy and his hits are devastating to a squishy. I haven't seen all that many good AP sions to be honest, and once you pop his shield half his nuke power is gone. However, that stun is just too good to pass up, and making it a nuke with a bunch of AP is just insane. So, I think I'm going to go with this answer:
AP is a better overall Sion, but AD Sion has a unique role that he can carry out well, and should be considered.

To lazy to respond to all debates, but i will add my opinion on the stupid sion qustion. Lets compare pro's and cons
Ad pros:
Late game ownage
Carry potenial
Uberpro last hitt
Super tanky
Ap pros:
Faster farm
More burst early to mid game
can snipe carrys late game
So what we get is a late game build and a early game build. And i mostly fall into late game, for lets be honest people late game is were it counts, farm early, push mid and carry late, that's the way of the carry!
I ussaly build ghostblade and run ghost on him, good luck stopping me when i heal 600 each hit, I just don't see how people say ap is so mutch better only becouse you get results faster ;)
