Should Old Guides be auto-archived?

Guides with inactive users and items that no longer exist should be archived imo.

Talking about guides that still have Zhonya's Ring, or Innverating Locket on them.
(I remember seeing a guide with a Sage's Ring...)

imo, it's clear the user isn't updating it anymore, no reason to have it clogging up the guide lists. :/

The staff are working on something at the moment. I think. Don't worry, it will come in due time.

After the next update, we will be trying a feature that hides guides from the various top lists on the site, if they haven't been updated within the last two patches.

@Matt:

A one month cut-off? Sweet.

When you say top-list, will that include the guide list that shows up below the Champion profiles?

Despite the items are outdated the info that is in the description could be still very valid.

I am against archiving, but the patch that Matt talks about will filter them out quite efficiently :)

I'd prefer if the actual author of an outdated guide say this.

If the description is useful, I don't see why someone can't just paraphrase it into their own guide.

Unless the guide's creator has stopped visiting the website then he can spend 5 mins a month to update the guide. If the guide truly is outdated then noone will see it either way. If I go look for a Sona or Gragas guide and an innervating locket is used (good times.. ) then you can be sure I won't even read the descriptions.
So I don't think it will hide any good guide, it'll only clean up the clustered pages. There are many guides who just aren't good and so the creators haven't touched them any more, but thanks to that they're kind of hiding the new guides with a lower score that are shown next to them.
If I go search for guides for a specific champion I'll see 3-4 guides with a good score and the rest will be at 70% or less. I don't think an Annie guide made and last commented in December deserves the same exposure as the guide next to it, that was created just 5 days ago. The old and unused guides should be filtered out so new guides are seen and rated by more people.

This may not be a bad idea, however my main problem is as DEWO said, the description could give you a great guide. Also what if nothing has changed for the champion in a month? The author really has no reason to update a guide then... Especially if he already has a fair bit of content in it.

My suggestion: Flag builds with old items as "outdated" and leave them in the listings.

Thanks to Xiaowiriamu for the sig!
