How about another thing. BUILDS and GUIDES.
Guide is something that is considered a well thought thing while a build is just an idea with some setups items and so on.
So... we could promote guides a bit more and let ppl vote on builds from day 0, but not on guides.
Other thing is that a build with good scores could have a head start if the creator will make it a full guide later. But should we care if it is working and it got even better since the creator wrote a full guide to a good build?
huh?

I think they shouldn't even be allowed to be published.
Having them there, but not vote-able just mocks readers who find really stupid guides.

I think Mowen's idea should be implemented. That way people will still look at all of the builds/guides, but you can DV/UV anonymously during the 4 days after champ release.
and @ DEWO, I think guides and builds should be able to be voted on using Mowen's idea from Day 1.
However, instead of only recent guides showing by default when you click on builds and guides, I think Builds AND Guides should show by default.

Mowen's idea is actually pretty cool. Invisible voting. Most trolls will downvote the top ranked guide just because it's number one, and this will make the rating system more honest. There will still be those people who DV every other guide, but they'll always be there.
Regarding Jun's comment, if we didn't have any guides on the new champ, that would be a problem. I would venture as to say that one of the largest sources of new members that this site gets is from the release of new champs and people who sign up to say "Hey, great job with this build". If we removed the ability to make a build on a new champ, the site would lose reliability and a source of member influx.

Maybe we could do something like the scores for builds are hidden for 4 days or a week? This would let people vote but not make one guide shoot up above the others really fast.
Bad idea. One of the reasons the current system was implemented was the insane amount of trolling that went on when a new champion is released. Or is this a smaller issue than I thought?
"Blizzard spoke thus; Thou shalt not BM. And the players replied Nay, I shall Play my hand with Lethal already on the board. And so Blizzard sent unto them this Brawl of Yogg, As a lesson for their sins of Pride and Greed, for he is the Prophet of Madness and RNG. On that day, the tavern descended into an era of chaos and darkness, until the weekend passed and everyone forgot all about it. Amen. Book of SMOrc, Verse 20, Chapter 4." - Feam T

You just mean trolling as in, a guidemaker (maybe) will vote down all the other guides to make his higher? I guess this is true that it would not prevent this still, but at least certain guides would not be targeted specifically because they are GETTING high scores, which I think was where a lot of it came from. I still feel like disabling voting for 4 days is not the best solution, and that if people want to DV guides to make their's look better they will just DV them all after 4 days anyways. :(

Thanks to GrandMasterD for my sig!

I too really like that idea Mowen, it would definitely help to aleeviate the bloating of high rated guides, and avoid the exclusivity of said guides in the first week.
Oh man! We're on a roll! This is way too funny cuz it's 3 am and I'm tired. -.-
I like the hidden scores idea better than the current system, or maybe a combination of both? I am all about taking a while and putting thought into guides, but there also is a need for newcomers to find builds easily. At the very least we shouldn't get the biggest influx until the new champs free week, which is 2 weeks after it's released.
