Spell vamp is important for Kennen, you've even done the maths wrong. 33% of 25 is not 6.6% it's 8.3% and there's a reason it's AoE SO YOU CAN SPELL VAMP MULTIPLE TARGETS DUH.

Get more points in Electrical Surge earlier. Levelling your Shuriken is good but your other abilities, mainly Electrical Surge are also very important, if not of the same importance.

The rest is nice but other builds outshine this one by far.

Thank you guys for your invaluable input. I have tested several of your suggestions and I've found some of them to my liking. I've changed the build slightly to better accommodate early game mobility. I've also moved before and created a brief review on the item . There are a few other things that I'd like to assess more thoroughly in the near future: the viability of summoner spells and , as well as the real value of glyphs . Thank you all again for your kind advice, and I'd hope to read more in the near future.

As other I would like to note that this is the best kennen guide I've read so far, explaining a lot and the video was extremely useful!

However I have some suggestions about how I play kennen. Feel free to comment.
But personally I use abyssal scepter as my first item after magic penetration boots, although im reconsidering that now, since you guys seem to manage with tier 1 boots, which would make the dmg build go faster.
Anyway, abbysal scepter is the best earlygame item I think, it gives extra magic penetration, well lowering of magic resistance, but the concept is the same. Also the magic resistance gives great survivability.

Secondly I suggest to get zhonya's Hourglass before Rabadon's Deathcap, because the passive is very good, and kennen is quite squishy without any defensive items. Now you'll have magic resist from the scepter and pure armour from your Hourglass, making you a lot stronger.

Thirdly a little side suggestion, if you play against a lot of physical damage camps, of which a warwick, a thornmail will do wonders ;) especially epic on 3v3 though.

Last I wanna say something about the Summoner spells. I've tried both ignite and heal, and I must say i prefer heal. Late game your opponents will always focus you down, and 2 seconds of zhonya won't save you everytime.. besides if you pop your ulti, zhonya and then heal after you most certainly won't die, and it definitely flips the teamfight, since all the allies around you will get healed.

I will definitely try a different early game now, no speed boots as a first buy, and no dorans shield, however I don't have any health runes, just pure AP and magic penetration ;)

Sums up to: great guide! You have my vote, but dfinitely put abbysal scepter in [9/10 stars] because it really does improve your damage and survivability a lot earlygame!! ^^ (I didnt expect it either, but it really works)

Trojan995's response is very similar to how I would answer your question. I would also like to add that is a late game item because it mostly deals with magic resist. Since magic resist reduces damage by a percent amount it would be more viable in the late game than in the early game. If you are looking for an early game item that will provide both damage and survivability, I'd highly recommend and . Health and ability power are what you want in the early game. Magic resist and magic penetration are more for the mid to late game. In this build however I focus more on Kennen's burst than on his survivability. I may die plenty of deaths, but I will more likely than not take a chunk of the enemy team along with me.

wow I finally found the build. I believe i saw it on some1 playing kennen in a tournament and Phreak was all like "no way that guy is going juvi bead" i like it as a replacement for dorans shield specially i you start getting ganked or harrassed. It gives you a very good early game and first blood is so much easier to get.

I must say, Kennen used to be my favourite champ and now thanks to this guide, i'm loving destroying the enemy group with slicing maelstrom once again, most in depth and accurate guide i've come across, great job and thanks =D

The key to success is good farming :) I prefer going to solo-mid and then go top/bot to help gank and gain more gold. But i don't play ranked games yet, so things might change when i get there :)
Boots are really not that needed if you play solo-mid. Just be aware of mia's.

Just a few comments:

The reason he doesn't take Abyssal Scepter is because he has a void staff, and the AS aura would be useless with the void staff.

Kennen shouldn't be the one getting Thornmail. Warwick is on-hit, meaning his damage is magic. If you need a defense item, Guardian Angel is enough.

Almost no high-ELO players take heal. It's simply not comparable to Ignite. Ignite gives you lane dominance, and you can really win a lane easier with it. Heal is defensive and is virtually useless late game - ignite is always useful.
