Because they want kills kills and moar kills, People don't realize supports are about assists, Getting kills is cool every now and then on support, but idiots think that support shouldn't support but instead should just get all kills all day. Herp derp dumbass it's SUPPORT for a reason sigh, but yeah i use a build like that when i play sona....ON FREE WEEK >:D
AP is always nice on a support (and having a strong heal is essential), so I don't oppose rabadons :3
However you're right, auras are still best on her. I'd probably get rid of the soul shroud (not a good item imo) for a rod of ages and then leave the rest as is.

Cuz AP nuke Sona (a completely different role requiring actual effort) is fun. Was Malphite intended to be a tank? Just because it's not the original intent doesn't mean it can't work...
EDIT: Support Sona is fun, but I like playing Sona as a nuke because I have this obsession with being weird.

Personally I build Sona very similar to how you do, with a deathcap for a bit more heals :)
