Supposedly he uses an "over-heat" or a magic version of Fury system like Rumble/Renekton/Tryndamere. But in place of heat/fury it's Arcane Power.
From the looks of things, I'm thinking the more you use your powers the more powerful you get but the CDs for your spells increase. Which is what I'm contemplating because of one of the comments "PEW PEW PEW. Why is the CDR Cap 40%?"
And for reference an Artillery Mage is one who relies heavily (almost single mindedly) on high damage spells. Expect this guy to be 99.9% nuker. So electricity/arcane lazer beams....Could it be an AoE ulti? We shall see.

actually I think by artillery I think they mean he might be a long range nuke, similar to AP kog maw. So he's like the lux laser, but incorporated into more of his abilities. I'm really interesting in seeing how his arcane power works though. It sounds like it'll be a delicate balance to keep up, similar to Rumble, if you want to maximize his damage output.

Xerath is not tanky the way Swain or Nunu are, no. His strength is more in the offensive power of his spells.
Let's see... the highest-level thing I should disclose here was that I was inspired by the concept of "artillery mage" in his design, and I definitely think we hit that nail on the head.

Xerath's skills preview is coming soon, so I can't disclose any big details yet. But let's just say that we think we've created mage who has a unique playstyle and creates a different experience playing as and against from what you're used to.
