Tank nidalee is surprisingly effective. I got crushed by one this week. Looking forward to trying her.
The metagame generally has to do with how the lanes are set up and how the game progresses in stages. Not as much to do with champion builds.
The current meta is:
Solo Top: 1 tanky DPS or 1 AP carry usually
Mid: 1 AP carry
Bot: 1 AD carry, 1 support
Jungle: Tanky DPS, tank or Fiddlesticks basically. Any viable jungler.

Thanks to Lugignaf for the sig!
I was referring to the builds that make the Meta-games rather than the set up to the meta-game.
While I do not doubt that this Nid build is effective, I dislike the fact that it is a Copy-Paste build. I am a strong advocate of finding a unique, yet effective ways to play champions rather than just doing what everyone else does and not thinking about the reasons behind why they are effective.

It's not a meta shift. Nidalee's former use as a ap carry/support/pusher was completely demolished by riot's "retooling" of Nidalee. They crushed her heal, so it can't be used as often and therefore will not allow for as frequent AS buffs. Spears are easily avoided in most cases, so building for those is dumb. And she's not shaco, so don't build her for traps.
That leaves her cougar form, which was actually buffed. Leaving people to move towards building her as an offtank.
Again, it's not a meta shift. It's Riot nerfing ****.

Even if it was a direct result of Riot doing something: it is still a shift in the Meta Game.
I feel AP Nid is still Viable I land plenty of spears and often times when they are dodged they are effective at Zoning. Nid is still a Viable AP Off-tank. I just hate the fact that she isn't played like that anymore.

I love AP Nid and I think she still works well. I tried soloing top as tanky nid and it didn't go very well.
I don't see how you can say you love creativity when you're bashing a new and innovative build that people are adopting. How can you call atmog's nidalee copy-paste when AP nidalee is the most basic way to play her?
And if something works well, there isn't much reason not to copy it. That's the point of looking up builds, to see what others have come up with in order to figure out the optimum itemization.

Kaz the reason tanky nid came about is because HSGG recognizes the tournament viability of AP Nid was questionable post nerfs. It took a lot of what her strengths were as a champion away.
He, instead of giving up on Nidalee, tried a variety of builds on live stream, and he won a number of those games in low elo matches. He tried Atmogg's Nidalee and full tank Nidalee and everything you could imagine, the only item I never really saw him using was Trinity Force.
Yet in tournaments he still tried to use the AP build and never used the tanky builds- So I suspect he was trolling.
However, troll or not, the build is not entirely bad because of the new Nidalee's Armor and MR bonuses instead of dodge in cat form.
So you see, when a champion is reworked players will experiment with the viability of new builds- That's not the same as what you're talking about.
What you're referring to is smashing atmoggs onto Annie, who has not been reworked recently and there's no reason to try to come up with methods to take advantage of a new kit when the old methods no longer are applicable.
Hope that makes sense.
Also when 3 people tell you that a champion's build comes into question as a result of a rework you might want to just nod your head and go with it. There's really no denying why people are experimenting with the builds, and it's not because of the meta game. It's because of the champion. I'm not gonna start building atmoggs Karthus just because the meta game is a certain way.

WHAT THE HELL?
I'm all for finding new ways to play champs but has it really gotten to the point where you can copy paste a build unto a champ that isn't designed for that kind of a build and walk away feeling like you suggested something good?
Sorry for a blind rant. I understand that the Meta-game is shifting the way it is because of the simple fact that it works. and I guess the only reason I'm QQ-ign about it is because it's fun to fight the system. anyway now that I am done I am going to promote intelligent conversation by asking what you all think about this....
So... what are your thoughts?
