If more people actually played him properly in the laning phase, I'm sure he'd be banned/picked every game.

Also why's he being compared with Maokai? o_o they're so very different champions lol

He can jungle or top.

He almost can't be countered and doesn't lose most lanes.

He counters like 3/4 of the solo top champions.

He's hard to gank.

He's great at participating in ganks (Speed boost/slow from passive)

He is strong in lane, he is strong late game.

Should I go on?

Yes, plz do so..
I see all the points, and i do play GP(only normals though). I just disaggree on his 2 stronk shutting down in lane capabilities.. cuz he WILL run oom.. And with a cloth armour(one of the only champs i pick cloth armour against w/ irelia)+5 pots u should be able to keep the lane even. He has no built-in sustain before wriggles(don't call "w" sustain waaaaaaaay too mana costy for a early-game stomp thar lane champ)
But i quess i disagreed in your trynda too stronk in lane theory, and saw how that went *_*

Because lugignaf thinks top-lane maokai is op, when he isn't.. The only real-op champ is Irelia... She shuts down maokai All-day Erryday... And i can prove it to luigi even on ma smurf account.. I be confident in that *nods*

Well I start either boots 4 pots or cloth 5 pots on GP, and I make sure that we're both using them. No passive farming.

I take flat mana regen blues, and I run a 21/1/8 taking mana per level and mana regen in utility. I have no mana problems, and can spam Q forever if I want :)

(And I always want)

To be fair, GP is better than Tryn as a pick. Because he's safer.

Tryn wants to kill all enemy lanes at 2-3, and if he doesn't, he's not a great pick because his late game is easy to deal with.

GP doesn't care. GP's good all game, no matter what, and more team oriented.

A counter to Lee Sin top? You want somebody who can exploit his weakness, which is that early on he's squishy. If you can do it from range, even better. Off the top of my head, here are some thoughts...

Maokai: Saplings will keep him at range, and your superior health plus a root and a pop-up make engagements risky for Lee Sin.

Caitlyn: Superior range, plus her traps help cover and give early warning on ganks.

Twisted Fate: Probably too risky, but might be possible between the range on his Wild Cards and the Gold Card stun.
