The fault of questions like these (not having a go at anyone) is that the validity of them is often misleading as such questions cannot be simplified purely to role but also becomes expanded on the said champion positioned at the role. Certain group of champions at mid with global capabilities ( Karthus, Twisted Fate etc) can have a profound influence in other lanes helping win that lane or cause a even match-up in an otherwise losing lane. This isn't exclusive to just mid of course but also expands to the top lane as well ( Gangplank & Pantheon) and is generally the reason why people consider solo lanes more effective at "carrying" as they have more universal control so to speak while also offering late-game damage use. Them two roles being the only one which can "viably" pick up Teleport is also a factor.

I often commonly see the support role being undervalued in such threads but certain support champions should most defiantly not be underestimated. Alistar for instance can make terrific initiations and tower diving/tanking potential seeing as there is always that one person who is oblivious towards tower damage. Lots of people argue that support depends too much on the team, well.. guess what you depend on your team to win - you can't win 1vs5, some teams are too heavy to be carried. If you got a **** AD carry which would rather waste a minute chasing someone then take down inhibitor tower then as a support you can often save these type of people numerous times. I remember having to spam ping while the jungler walks over a ward towards us with the AD carry oblivious till the 5th ping. The main flaw in bot lane is that it requires more partnership and communication between the two of you so push for that communication and organization. Some people can't be reasoned with but most can.

^ I actually think during lane phase supports carry a bit harder than AD carry's do.

The reason why I personally don't play support is because I find it hard to get on the same page as my lane-mate. When playing as the carry, I find it easier to read what the support's doing and follow up, while as a support I have to rely on the AD carry to follow up what I do properly to be really effective. That and I suck at it, I guess.

A support can actually give you a huge advantage early by doing things like warding dragon and enemy buffs/jungle. Then whenever some1 shows up in those spots just ping the **** out of them and you can get 3-4 people magically gravitate towards your pings. This can be a great way to pick up early map objectives and frustrate the enemy team.

So if you want to carry out of bot lane I agree with Duff and say a well played support wins games.

I ain't gonna try and say a well-played support doesn't win games. I'm just saying it's tougher to play well.

Well my original statement stands. If you wanna carry a game, don't go bot lane.

Unfortunately for me that's not always an option, because I'm, like, super-fail top.

Since when do you have to be support to do these things?

Definately Jungle. You can take advantage of 5 bad players. A good jungler can counter-jungle, gank, and change the game before 15min.
