After being part of the community for over two years, I'm giving up writing guides on Mobafire.

The community here seems to get worse every day...and it's just not enjoyable any more.

I am really tired of alternate accounters anonymously destroying other people's hard work without recourse. I can't even remember the last time I got constructive feed back from a down voter...it's just people making second accounts and flaming similar guides to make theirs look better.

On top of that, I don’t feel that many of the builds that get exemplary scores are actually the best ones. Junior members playing at very low tier levels dictate what guides become popular and then people follow them like sheep. That means that a lot of the best theory crafting gets lost in the muddle.

I know I'll get the typical responses from this: The “ok bye, we won't miss you." kinds of responses…I won’t be loading Mobafire.com on my browser ever again so your response will go unread by me and you’ll only be reinforcing my argument, that the community here is largely negative.

I just want the community to know they are losing a creative guide writer who doubles as a successful player with a lot of experience because the Mobafire.com moderator team fails to police members that are destructive to community.

I’m giving a special shout out to members like [bleep] and [bleep] (edited by mod ;D) who take being an enormous tool to a whole new level. People who have made no contribution to this community (never even made a guide or given an up vote) yet are allowed to cast unlimited down votes and spam all of a writer’s guides without cause. To be allowed to literally target and assault one particular member’s work and destroy it and then not have that be a punishable offense is heartbreaking.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I get that…but there still should be some level of respect and consideration for one another. Intentionally disrespecting another member should never be acceptable. Yet any thing goes within the community.

I know this kind of thread won’t last long. Anyone who speaks out against the community has their thread closed nearly immediately.

To the moderator who shuts this thread down and doesn’t let the members speak out…just know you are as much part of the problem as the trolls that run rampant on your site.

To veteran members who have been positive forces of the community, especially DEWO and jahoihoi who have provided me useful feedback in the past, thank you! I miss the good old days when the community was smaller and most of the feedback I got was from respectable members such as your self. DEWO, it was your old Warwick guide that got me to make an account!
Thanks for the good 2 years. I hope you do something about the community soon for this site’s sake. Off to adventure in Diablo III!

Signing off!

TL;DR

Jk. I think it sucks that you feel this way. I wouldn't know because I didn't ever create a guide but in the internet there will always be haters. Best not to let them affect you in such a way I think.

Oh well. Best wishes!

I absolutely agree at the moment. Not sure why I'm still hanging around here myself.

I agree aswell. I find it too bad that I do most of my Mobafire surfing from my cell and to write a good, constructive post on a guide is way too much work on a cell :/
If you for some reason want to follow my ranked journey to gold, you can do it Here.

I am against asking for rep, only rep me if you think I contributed well or said something wise.

Wow, sounds like you've been trolled a lot.

I agree with a lot you're saying, but it looks like you don't see the positive sides anymore like I do.

Oh well. Best wishes!

I don't buy the idea that someone who goes through the time to write a 'farewell' post doesn't come back to check it. It's a trap!

You're looking at this all the wrong way. You shouldn't worry about getting downvoted from "trollvotes", most trollvotes are in affect bad players anyway. They just do not waste their time explaining why, because they suck. I'm digressing, the point is you should be creating a guide for others, not yourself. You shouldn't have to beat yourself up about the 20 comments going "trololol **** build" because you saw that one comment that went "I really love this guide! It's helped me up my elo, I'm dominating with it. I really appreciate it, +1".

Let's put this simply. If you wish to create a guide for the sole reason of getting it up in the top 10, don't bother making a guide at all; For this will happen. You will rage at the site itself and everyone in it, even the moderators and admins. You don't care that you helped out some people who could even now be following your guide. No, you're not going to stay for them. You're going to archive you're guide and never let them see it again.

Make a guide for the community, or don't make one at all.

/rant

I know, a long rant. I just hate when people act like that, only thinking about how it affects them.

People only ever read/comment on the top 2-3 guides.

This is the real issue with Mobafire guides. The top few guides for so many champions have such ridiculously inflated scores that they will never lose their position. Some of them suck major balls, but people continue to upvote them because it's the top guide and it worked for them against their godawful level 10 opponents who had no idea how to play. Doesn't matter how good your guide is if nobody ever sees it.
