Mark the area that you want to color, then press ctr + u to get Hue/saturation, then press the little box that says colorize and then use the different sliders to set different collors

What I did was add three layers.
Make one layer green, one orange, and one red. You can do that in a variety or ways, such as using the paint brush tool, bucket tool etc.
On the according layer, erase the colour that shouldn't be there (for example, there should be no green where the orange and red parts are).
Next play around with the layer styles, try "Hue" or "Colour" to get a nice colour. You may need to lower the Opacity so the background image is more prominent.
And that's it :)
