Help me please. I'm pretty inexperienced with computers (I only know some things about it), could some experts help me out here (particularly Searz)?

EDIT: The title is "I need a decent PC with at least an i5 processor and a Radeon video card for under 550 bucks."

That's a rather small budget, but what parts do you need?
Case? PSU? Or just CPU, MB, RAM and GPU?
(Power Supply Unit, Central Processing Unit, MotherBoard, Random Access Memory and Graphics Processing Unit)

It would also help if you told me about which PC you have right now, if any.

I need a completely new PC, I only have a laptop atm. I'm willing to switch to cheaper parts like core 2 duos, I just need a PC.

You won't be able to do it with that budget. You simply cannot.

As I see it you have 2 (possibly 3) good options.

1. Buy an Intel i5 3570K and hold off getting a GPU until you have the money. It has a decent integrated GPU.

2. Go way above budget and get a real graphics card.

Total APPROXIMATE costs would be:
CPU: 200-240$
MB: ~150$
RAM: ~50$
GPU: 120-200$
HDD: 100-120$
PSU: ~80$
Case: 60 or 110$

Which totals about 680-750$ for option 1 and 760-910$ for option 2.

Option 3 would be to have a look at the AMD Vishera CPUs that are coming out next month. They're gonna have very powerful integrated GPUs. Roughly in the same performance area as HD7670. Not much compared to normal graphics cards, but really, really good for integrated graphics and most certainly playable in most games.

Now, if you need a screen, keyboard and mouse, you'll have to spend about 200$ or slightly more on those.

For specific products:

CPU: Intel i5 3570K or i5 3450 (or possibly AMD A10 5700)

MB: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 or cheaper Z77 MB, but you'll lose loads of functions for a very small decrease in price.

RAM: any 2*4GB kit without big heatsinks (those are so dumb), preferably Corsair.

GPU: AMD HD7850 or HD7770. Nvidia's lower end cards are a joke, so don't even bother.

HDD: Any 1TB or 2TB HDD that seems good. 1TB HDDs cost ~100$ while 2TB costs ~120$, so 2TB is much better price/performance. BUT, if you can manage just having 128GB space, then an SSD is a good option. There are good 128GB SSDs for ~100$

PSU: Any 80+GOLD PSU will do. You won't need any more than 500W or so. Just look for the cheapest one with a good brand.

Case: Antec 300 (~60$) or Fractal Design Define R4 (~110$).
Antec 300 is a very solid cheap case. It's not really good at anything other than being cheap and decent.
Define R4 is an incredible case. It has loads of space, loads of cooling options, sound dampening, a fan controller and dust filters for all the intake fans. The overall design of Define R4 is incredible, I've yet to see a case match it.

I don't know whether to cry or laugh.. or both.

Because I am here as well.

:D

Searz is right about the price being a bit too low (and this is assuming you p-word windows), but you don't have to go that expensive searz. Asrock has pretty bad service from what I've heard as well. You don't need a fractal, gold psu, and 1tb HDD if you are on such a low budget lol.

For GPU, you can go GTX 650 -- really good performance for it's price, $120. And it's small, meaning you can build an mATX if you wanted to. No need to get AMD when you can get NVIDIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Now, the issue stems at the i5. That will be near half your budget right there if you actually go with an i5.

I gtg for now but I'll post the rest of a possible build at around that price later.

But gtx 650 all teh way!

Another issue that stems if you are pretty noob at PCs; you gonna have to l2build :3

watch part 1, which is the link above, and 2 and 3, which show up after you go to the first video. Watch them closely and don't back out because of boredom, it helps a ****ton. Especially part 2 which is actually building, but you should know the rest too to get around bios, drivers, etc. 1 is picking parts, which we are doing for you, but you should still watch it to get a general background of the parts we are talking about.

Oh okay, thanks for the help you two. I suppose I'll just pull more money out of my back account for a PC since the budget is too low.

Also, I honestly needed to learn how to build my own PC so that vid is going to help me a lot... :D
