Would you read "ugly" guides that provide useful content?
As someone who played with and talked with Duff on a regular basis while he was a regular on Mobafire, I'm all for this.
I still play with him on occasion. =P
If you decide to go through with this I wouldn't mind playtesting the builds/guides.

I personally don't care what a guide looks like, but I don't think that's how the general populace feels.

Advertising your guide is against the rules. This is an opinion thread, not a request for review thread.
Yeah completely forgot, expected to get a warning like I usually do before posting then I realized how I worded it. My bad.
I'm not going to argue that Duff's guides were perfect since they weren't, I was just going off an example that I feel is pretty well known around these parts.

Playing his guides with heal ignite generally wasn't a good idea, although I know he played differently from his guides, just didn't want to update them.

Honestly I'd prefer a guide not have much bbcoding, it's annoying, distracting, and is a huge waste of time that could be spent making the guide better.
The fact that the author KNOWS they could be using their time on the guide more effectively, is really unattractive to me.
Videos, and pictures to help explain certain techniques are helpful (for example, an adc guide that had a video showcasing how to properly orbwalk would be great). However, when I see banners all over, artwork every paragraph, 15 graphs, and 'totally cool penta-kill videos' the guide is usally very unpleasant.
I would much prefer to read a guide the way you describe. HOWEVER I don't really read guides anyway. n_n
