~Scouts de Mobafire Review~

Here is the review. It is based on the discussion we had on Skype during which everyone was able to throw in their ideas and concerns and answer to other people's points.

Things you could improve and/or fix:
  • We believe that Zephyr is a stronger item than Blade of the Ruined King. We think this way because Zephyr gives you plenty of good stats and Irelia can use all of them. Blade of the Ruined King is a good item against high hp targets during splitpushing.
  • Extra flat armor in runes might help you against some strong AD matchups like Renekton
  • Greater Mark of Attack Damage is better than greater mark of armor penetration because Irelia only has two physical damage abilities, one of which you do not even max.
  • Crystalline Flask is a decent starting option as it offers you great sustain (both mana and hp)
  • Oracle's Lens is mandatory in the late game unless you are pushing.
  • We believe that Equilibrium Strike is better to max second than Bladesurge
  • The guide could use a little brush up as well. This means that there is a lot irrelevant and old information which should be deleted.
  • We also think that your guide could use a overhaul. Grammar mistakes and other little things like that make it harder to read. If you want help, be sure to contact us via PMs.

  • I think Zephyr is stronger than Blade of the Ruined King because it has a lot more situations that it can be built in, but i think Blade is a stronger item if you're brainlessly throwing it into your build for every game. This is just because I haven't quite updated the item section yet.
  • I don't think that going for extra flat armor runes necessarily helps matchups such as Renekton as you shouldn't run any risk of dying to him the first levels anyway, and you gain some free levels from having Teleport. You'll have more armor with this page than when you go for flat armor seals at around level 4 and onward.
  • Greater mark of armor penetration actually DOES give Irelia more damage than Greater Mark of Attack Damage when you build Trinity Force. Attack Damage gives more the first levels, but Armor penetration catches up once you have a few doran's blades. I only go Armor penetration versus AP toplaners as Irelia is heavily favored against most of them.
  • I have listed Crystalline Flask in the guide because it is the best starting item if you're going Ignite. But you never want to go Ignite unless you wan't to win hard vs lower ELO players, and in those cases its better to go Doran's Blade for better kill potential if they make mistakes. With Teleport i don't think Crystalline Flask has any value over Shield/Blade.
  • Regarding Oracle's Lens. You should pretty much always be splitpushing as Irelia, and even if you don't do it 24/7, Oracle's Lenses can be bought by every other member of your team. Why would you pick Irelia if you're never going to splitpush?
  • I max Bladesurge versus AP laners because it's the best spell to max if you're snowballing, and if you're building damage in an 1v1.
  • Have you seen old/irrelevant information prior to the start of the Item's part 2 section? In that case I'd like to know cause that's where I've reached so far with the revamping.
  • Yeah i understand the grammar mistakes etc are pretty common in this guide. If anyone sees something let me know.

I just wanted to say thank you for the guide. I've been a big fan of it since I picked up Irelia in Season 2.

Can't wait to see what you come out with in Season 3. Also, would it be possible to include a small section for the 3v3 Twisted Treeline?

I will probably update the twisted treeline section as well.

I wouldn't really say that on Garen anymore. He is no longer the real earlygame stomper he was. He shifted so much power into lategame, that a farmed Garen can be nearly as scary as a farmed Irelia. And this just increases even more in Season 3. I think this could make Garen way more dangerous against you.

Season 3 will ofcourse change a big amount and i will remake almost my entire guide then. This line is outdated and was written before Garen's rework.

Lets say your against Garen, Garen is undenyably better than Irelia the first levels. But Irelia is a lot stronger later on. So how will you lane against this Garen? Thing is, if you both go even on cs (creep score) you have won the lane since you will be stronger than him later on anyway. So just focus on farming for now, if you both get the same farm you have beaten him.

you don't need to calculate on my stuff, i know ma shiz on irelia. regarding the match up section:
Rumble: Going agressive early is really dangerous against a rumble since he has the double harpoon so he can assists somewhat well in ganks and we all know erryone likes to snowball a rumble-irelia lane.
Seems kinda too risky, risking not only your whole mid-game but almost your whole game in getting a little lane advantage of 1-2 health pots or 10'ish cs.

What to do against rumble(against a double ap-team): Passively farm, only way to harrass is W->Q to minon->Stun->AA->AA->Q away. This is very costly though so only do it when full mana and else just don't engage unless you have a free stun onto him.
Once you have 1275 gold, push out the lane or call for a jungle hold. buy 3 negatron cloks, you now won the lane and the mid-game as long as you're able to shut the ad-carry down in teamfights. Rumbles damage is totally neglected and he's done for.
Build example:
Boots+4->mantle->mantle->mantle->merc->wits->phage->tri-force->GA.

Nidalee is IMO not one of the hardest matchups for irelia whatsoever.
UNLESS you have a really ganky jungler that starts near the top-lane and lvl 2-3 ganks top, start cloth armor.
You wanna get the armor boots early, as early as possible. After the armor boots you wanna buy a phage or a doran's blade if you can't afford it since either will allow you to trade. After phage, you're golden.
Build example:
cloth+5->armor boots->Doran's->Phage->Sheen->Tri-force->Wits/GA reliant on the enemy team.

Put renekton higher, he's much harder than difficulty 4.

did you try desolation marks on her post buff?

They're a lot stronger than ad reds.

In your guide you say "she has good ad-scalings" but she doesn't lol. And it definately doesn't make up for the fact that her base stats on the abilities are even greater than the ad-scaling.

Also i prefer to get a 3rd point in initiator>the CDR. The only point in the game where irelia is in dire need of cdr is between 6 and 14. Theese stages would only give you half the bonus.

Initiator's good all game.

spent a few hours calculating desolation marks and they are indeed better.
