Woah, you actually give it thought. That's cute, 90% of Jax players jump even if it's 1 v 5 and enemy team has baron buff.
As for your question, depends on many things. Are you fed and did you built resistances? Can your team back you up immediately? Jump.
Was an enemy caught out of position (preferably a carry) or picked out by cc on your team? Or perhaps you can get them because they were out of position and you can be backed up? Jump. Same for having high CC initiators who enable your entrance (Malphite, Amumu).
If you're behind, if one of the enemy teams carries is very fed or if they have high cc, wait for someone else to start the fight. Also, if your team gets initiated on but still wants to retreat, don't jump or you'll be alone (or worse, drag your team into a potentially terrible fight)

i played a few more with him and bought him.. each game i tried to build differently...one focusing on AD one on attack speed and one similar to a hybrid ap,ad guide i read...all of them felt pretty good
not sure how to decide on what is better...??

you should pretty much always get trinity force on Jax. Core would be trinity force, ruined king, GA. Rest is situational.

Warmogs is terrible on Jax :/
GA is core, Triforce is core, Bilge into one of the upgrades (not both) is core.
OT: Jump their carry right after your tankiest teammate initiates. If you're the tankiest, build a Triforce Bilge GA Randuins Bulwark or some other MR item and initiate yourself.

i was never sure when is the right time to jump into a team fight? should i jump in first and try to stun their carry? or should i wait till one of them are hurt and i can jump in for the killing blow??
