Dunno why people forgot about her, although I saw two recently and I played her again vs a
LeBlanc. I think she has a lot of strengths but she isn't "fun" to play (her lane phase is more boring than any other champ's unless you don't play her like you're supposed to and risk your *** pushing).
I think she became a bit forgotten because of the emphasis on mobility champs and how
Katarina dominated the mid lane picks for about two+ months, and kata isn't an easy champ for unpracticed morganas. I might be missing something but, as far as I know, she wasn't particularly hit by anything in terms of itemization this season.
Usually build RoA+Zhonya on her and go from there. Other items I consider are Twin Shadows for ult setup, Rabadon, Void Staff, Abyssal, etc.

Thank you Byron for 2014's loudest laugh up till today

First, she was picked in lcs by Nyjacky yesterday.
Second, the main reason is her lack of mobility which doesn't fit this cool flashy mobile meta. Morgana has no way of repositioning, hell she doesn't even have movespeed boosts. Many champions can easily get away from her Soul Shackles and return into the fight almost immediately.
Regarding her build path. WotA is an awful item in general. I think I'd open up with Chalice into Hourglass into Unholy Grail. Liandry's to make harass hurt even more and maybe even use Twin Shadows to make it easier to land Dark Binding.
Personally I do play Morgana as a support now. She can really block junglers such as Amumu, Vi and Malphite with her Black Shield.

She has her benefits but her major flaw and the number one reason people don't play her is because of the lack of consistent damage output.
If you compare her to any other AP she does waaaaaaay less damage
she has so little damage when her ults down besides her q
nyjacky plays her because he knows all the blind spots to using her q

I used to do this but feels a bit unstable to me. Granted the

Morg's got one of the most awkward autoattack animations and timing in the game - supposedly, this is because she was originally meant to have a whip, but they took it out and just had her wave her arm in that daft fashion.
I think that Morg is now perhaps better played as a top lane counterpick rather than a midlane burst champion - in mid she's just outclassed it's not even funny anymore, while if used in the top lane as a specific counterpick to someone, she might stand a chance.
Or, you can just stack 2-3 RoA and hope to get away with it :P

Thanks for the discussion guys! I also think one of Morg's problems is Tormented Soil. It's easily avoidable. And like mentioned, she has low mobility, so people can just step out of it and her ult chains. If you consider all the puddles/pools in the game, you get:
Singed Pool
Vlad Pool
Lux Pool
Nasus Pool
Varus Pool
Off the top that's all I can think of. And only one of those doesn't have a slow effect due to Nasus already having a slow with Wither.
Maybe all she needs is a little slow on Tormented Soil? She'd be a CC machine then. I don't know. I'm not the best theory crafter ^^

...That...actually explains a lot. I've felt that her AA is very awkward. Maybe they'll do a VU on her XD
Honestly, part of why Morg isn't as good as she used to be is the Zhonya's active change. You absolutely need Zhonya's to get your ult off in a big teamfight, but the increase in the untargettable time makes it a lot harder for Morg to keep people in her ultimate for its secondary effect.
I still play Morg, though. Of course, this is at least partially because I don't play mid much, so I tend to stick with what I know. Still, I find that I perform best when I'm able to push my lane constantly, absorb a lot of the enemy team's focus mid lane, and generally just be an immobile annoyance mid lane. This also frees up my jungler to only have two lanes to worry about, which can help secure control of the enemy jungle. I tend to want an early Sorc's for an MS advantage (or at least no disadvantage) and double Doran's for MP5, then rush into Zhonya's to force early teamfights. From there I like to build Deathcap, if I can, Abyssal for MR reduction, and my games rarely go long enough for me to build past those.
I don't feel like RoA on Morg is good since the Zhonya's change. Since the Zhonya's active lasts all but .5 seconds of Morg's ult, the extra HP often isn't necessary for getting your ult off. I still build RoA some games, but generally only when I'm doing really well and can get it before 23:00 or so after I've already built Zhonya's.

Is it because of her "set in stone" sort of build path? Or the fact that she's a sort of squishy AP champion who has to get in the middle of it all with no escape bar Flash (which is usually burnt to get in the midst of it in the first place)?
If you do play Morgana, or have seen her played recently, what are people building? Zhonya's is obviously core, but you hardly see many double AP (or I haven't anyway) teams now, so what about WotA?
Morgana is still a "safe" mid pick, who can push like crazy and get away with it. So why is she hardly ever played? (or is she played at some elo I'm not aware of?)
