This happens all the time in my experience in ranked... when someone takes a character the enemy will go on lolcounter.com and take one of the "counters". That's okay except for the part where they have 0 games with that champion and because half of the stuff on that site is ********. I use LoLcounter.com for the comments on dificult matchups to see tips from other players on how tho make up for the disadvantage and how to outplay and I also check it on easy matchups to see tips on how to abuse my advantage. Like seriously though you pick Ryze and the enemy mid is going to first time Cass just because she "counters" him and then when she loses because she's never played Cass before she doesn't even realize why she lost. And if Blitz is open the enemy is 100% going to pick Ezreal, whether or not he can actually play him. The Ezreals vs Blitzes I see don't even know how to cancel the pull with Arcane Shift.

Lol this game was a simple case of Vi top freelo. Got their 3rd top tower at 16 mins. Rammus was camping top, didn't even need any Lee ganks, I just 1v2d them and won lol. I died 1 time at the start but killed Vi at the same time and I did the same soon after under her tower. Also another time Lux came down and they 3v1d me. I got 2 kills out of it though. They also got me doing their golems later. Got a quadra later too lol.
What I did good : Pushed a ton, csed a ton, owned Vi and Rammus, stole their red 2 times
What I did wrong : Got cocky

Mostly got it cause I was wrecking anyway so why not 2 shot everybody? That's literally what happened when I got my quadra lol. Its still viable anyway but usually build something else first.
