True but its proven that will what we learn what we like more and if you want experience then again you are more likely to gain experience with a liked champion than one you may hate but know you can win with (I could be wrong).

Yes I understand Ranked is about victories but I just rather have fun wherever I play in LOL, in fact I say winning with a unpopular champion is like cheating - Yes you win but it just feels hollow somehow.

I cant speak much though because in 6 months I played in a total of 4 ranked :/

When im playing Aram, Dominion, Normalt 3s/5s i just pick the fun champions, i even sometime break the meta and go AD annie, AP Varus and such, just for the fun of it. becasue it is a game, and its made for fun. to have fun, straight up entertainment.

But when it comes to ranked, as i said earlier. it's not about having fun (Atleast for me) its about improving my gameplay, doing my very best at winning. =]

The only issue is that recently I did a check on which champions I feel happy playing with and could do some good with and I came up with 59 :/

I used to do something similar in Season 2, which is one of the reasons I did so badly. I slimmed it much further in Season 3, though. I've finally managed to limit myself to 2 champions in each lane, 3 at most with some (but not many) back-up choices.

One of the best ways to pick a main is tedious, but quite effective. Just pick a champion and just spam the **** out of that champion for 100 games or so. I have a friend who only spammed Talon (not Vapora Dark) and became extremely effective at playing Talon regardless of who was on the enemy team.

@OP

I'd say that all the factors were equally important, but then I find having fun in the game is quite important. If you want to do well, you might consider having fun not to be as primarily important, so you might just want to spam something you're comfortable with, yet is high tier.

I Believe everyone has a gift on a certain role or champion. Its best to find that role champ/ and practice and practice, If you dont like playing them after about 20=30 games. Its not your champ. Playing someone just because they are "Op" DOnt win games either. Pick 2-3 champs per lane and master them. Dedicate your play style to them.
Play alot of normal's with the,m, read guides, try your own builds.
However an exception of this is pick someone who can ful fill multiple roles, and can adjust build to fit teams needs. Ex Elise Can be an ap nuker, or a decent tank. As well as my main Lee sin. He can fulfill, a Bruiser, tank, and can peel an adc easy. As well as can even be an assassin if played very well early game.
So know who your playing and your role.
ANd Learn how to adjust during a game.

I think all of those points are important.
Experience is very important in choosing your main champion for ranked since you need choose champion which you will be able to feel comfortable and confidently.
To play any game means to have fun. I never play champions I did not like when was testing them during free week (5-10 games are enough to understand – does this champion suit you?).
Even when you choose your main champion – never forget about your team. During champion select consider to choose something else if needed.
As for me I did not choose my main champion. My main role is support and during champion select I always look at my team and think what support (if I picked this role) suit my team best since I feel comfortable with all support champion (with few exceptions).

I find that when i play champions that i love playing i generally do better. Although experience does play a major factor. i'll take as exemple my top singed mechanics. Singed has been one of the first champs i ever loved to play. I would play him every single game regardless of who i was against or which gamemode i played. This lead me to:
1. Play a champion i absolutely loved playing and;
2. gaining experience made me a better player with singed. Now sometimes even against his most common counter picks Teemo, Kayle. i can still do very well. its all about slightly changing your play style to accomodate. I will usually play alot "safer" throughout the laning phase and not give any kills while still farming or gaining kills if i can. Either way singed becomes a farming/splitpushing beast and always comes back late game with only 1 or 2 items. If i get through his rough laning phase then alls good :)

To sum it all up :Spamming him so much made me a good singed player. I can't say im great or perfect with him since there is always something i can improve but my overall loving to play him,experience with him increased my win rate with him to about 60%. So even on losing games i know i can possibly turn the tide somehow and possibly change the game. unfortunately in solo qq you aren't always given the lane you are good with :( .

I fully understand that and believe me the last thing I wanted was alot of choice in the matter because as I said previous I wanna aim for 2 per role and maybe a third in reverse just in case but thats alot harder than it seems.

I mean first of all the easier part was to remove those that I only enjoy playing but may not necessarily be any good at then it was trying to remove any champions that may have a high chance of being banned (i.e. Kassadin) but then it becomes difficult to choose two I am very happy with and of course having that one who I can substitute in if my options are limited somehow.

and I do get the idea with just picking 1 and doing 100 til you get better however I tend to change style psychologically almost every day of the week, some days I feel confident ADC with Jinx and the next I might wanna Jungle with Rammus but my skills in the other roles drop alot too so it makes no sense to me to push myself into one role when in truth Im actually best suited as a All Rounder summoner. :D

i just play a few champions and spam them constantly and change it as the meta changes, as of right now i have

Top: Malphite, Shyvana

Jungle: Shyvana, Vi (i havnt played a vi game in a while after picking up shyv)

Mid: Ahri (havnt played since nerfs), Veigar (i only play when im going mid and just want to play him, only real pick like that)

ADC: Jinx, Miss Fortune (jinx is strong right now, and i play MF only because i havnt used enough sivir since her rework to play her confidently)

Support: Nami, Thresh

the thing is this list is kinda too big for what i actually play, i rarely play support or top lane, maybe like once in every 30 games i play support or top, same with mid lane, i havnt played ahri since her nerfs and ive only played about 3 veigar games since then, ive really only been playing adc and jungle almost every game so basically only playing shyv, jinx, and MF

i hardly play any of the old "mains" i used to play constantly like naut and sej and hecarim
