I know that's the general idea, but it's not always easy. I just think their buffs are too strong, +3 attack for 1 mana and +4/+4 for 4 mana? Not to mention when they use divine shields, god that frustrates me so much >.>

And yeah, I always try to keep ooze in my hand except if I'm against something that won't ever use a weapon (mage for example), that's always a good idea :)

Just run 2-4 silences and some Ooze if you feel like your direct removal isn't good enough. Priests do well against Pallies because of their destroy-based removal. And so do rushdown Warlock decks, mid-range Shaman decks and aggro decks in general honestly.
Pallies are by no means OP. Just build and play properly.

How do I play it?

I wrote a few general tips on how to think earlier in this thread(but obviously finish the tutorial before reading this):

Manage your resources properly.
Cards are resources. You're not just paying mana for a minion, you're paying a card(s) for it too. That is why cards like Wisp are terrible. Cards with card draw are a different matter of course, they're 'free' in terms of the card cost so to speak.
Minions on the field are resources you've put into play. Try to keep a hold of those resources as well as you can, even if that means sacrificing things like health.

Almost always sacrifice health for board/card advantage. If you can attack and kill and enemy with a weapon or something like that then DO IT, even if his damage is high. Health means nothing compared to board and card advantage, because with said advantage you can more easily deal damage to the enemy.

Try to use your Hero Power as often as you can. If there's a good play you can make with it: DO IT. Using your hero power effectively and often is a good way to conserve cards.

Always try to make use of as much mana as you can, without playing any cards that you know will be easily countered of course. And try to stick to a maximum of 3-4 minions on the field to avoid getting ****ed by AOE spells.

Never buff a minion on a turn you're not attacking with it unless you have to. Damage buffs are generally more useful than health buffs. Because they can be used as removal.

This kind of goes without saying, but always try to make favorable trades happen. You want to trade your 2/1 unit for his 3/2 unit, your 3/2 unit for his 4/3 unit and your 4/3 unit for his 5/4 unit and so on.
For classes like Mages, Rogues and Druids you can also add one damage to the equation from your hero power. A 2/1 (likely cheap 1 cost unit) suddenly trades for a 4/3 unit (likely 3-4 cost). And again, sacrificing health, especially for favorable trades is not something you should be gun-shy of.

As a general sequence of actions you should try to do this every turn:

1. Look at how much mana you have.

2. Look at what favorable plays/trades you can make and how much they cost.

3. Then think about how you can combo your remaining mana as efficiently as possible, to make use of all the mana you have(obviously without playing anything that is easily countered). Also try to make use of your hero power wherever you can in mid to lategame where you ususally have the mana to support using it. The ideal amount of mana left after every turn is 0.

4. When you're done planning all of the above put your thoughts/plan into play. Make the most important plays happen first, so that you minimize your chance of disaster in the case of errors in the calculations.

Mage aggro decks are strong. Link to example: http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/managrind/articles/3029-mage-aggression-managrind-tournament-overview-by

So are Shaman decks, BUT probably not for you because of how many cards you lack.

Honestly, you'll probably have the most success with one of these classes(at least early on):
Mage, Paladin, Druid or Priest.

Thanks for the tips guys, they help a lot :)

I've leveled Mage and Paladin to lvl 10, will continue to play against normal bots until everything's level 10 - Druid and Priest are first up :)

Been playing lots of Priest and Hunter and they are now my fave classes atm

In my little experience you don't need too many cards for a cool hunter deck, just the basics and some common cards.

Priest I think might require some cards but I'm not sure, atm he's doing quite good for me and I don't have many cards

Also, I got a card to 138/138 with Priest in arena rofl, it was pretty funny (double hp 3 times then change his atk to his hp)

.....

I think you guys are misunderstanding my point. What I'm saying is not "I always lose to Paladin, help!", what I'm saying is if there's one class I hate playing against because their buffs are just stupidly strong, it's Paladin. My winrate against them isn't bad and I know how to deal with them, they just frustrate me. As far as I'm concerned, Paladin in HS is like Teemo in LoL; I leveled it to get the basic cards, but I won't ever play it.

Advice on which classes work well against it is also not really helpful as I just play whatever I feel like (have 6 different classes above level 20 and what I play depends on my daily / what I feel like using) ;)

He never said that mages didnt bother him, he only said that paladins were. Paladins actually are highly annoying, maybe even more annoying than a mage deck. Mages are also annoying, but you actually know what to expect, with the paladin they have a high variety of buffs, secrets, minions etc. Every time I bring some kind of powerful cards, paladins are like: NOPE and bring it down to 1 attack and 1 health. Enemy paladin just 1 hero power creature on the field not dangerous? NOPE double blessing of kings. Every paladin play feels like a nipple twist, it is highly annoying >:(

Change is gooooood

Yeah, they're pretty much in line with what they should be now, possibly just needing a Pyroblast nerf.

Am I the only one not having any problems with Pallies?
"I saw [Twilight: Eclipse] in theaters with a girl I was dating at the time. I spent more time staring at my toes and wiggling them than I did watching this abomination. When Edward proposed to Blank Face, I finally looked up with a revelation.
I blurted out loud, in a dead silent theater full of teenage girls on opening night "Wait a minute, Edward has no blood flow. How does he get an erection?" I heard several men laughing, and had several girls turn and stare at me.

I did not get laid that night." - Berengier817
