If

If you seem to be pushing your lane, recall and buy or take the jungle camps.
When Shyvana reaches level 6, avoid staying out of position.
If she decides to roam, push your lane as much as possible while looking out for the enemy Jungler. You'll be needing to ward more areas in case she roams because your mobility, or lack thereof might put you in danger.
When Mid-game comes, just join your team-mates in clashes.
I am a Shyvana main. I play her top and jungle. The people I don't want to see in lane are Mundo, Nasus, and Yasuo. The reason I don't want to see Mundo is because its annoying. The reason I don't want to see Nasus is because I'll never kill him and he'll outscale me. Yasuo is obvious, he needs major balancing. Anyone else, including Teemo I'm not worried about because I can kill them with ganks or I completely outscale them mid/late.

Not saying it's the best way.
Just saying it's effective.
That tactic only works if you can do it constantly. I've had people three man gank me a few times when I played top lane Shyvana and I still left lane and became a terror for their squishies :P
I agree with c4, even when I've played against a champion that made my early game less than easy, I could still come out of lane and outscale them enough that it didn't really matter most of the time.

Basically how I play LoL
Nasus with 6% Lifesteal in his quints can pretty much just ignore Shyvana and farm. Shyv can't keep him off creeps and he gets huge. If the other lanes don't lose horribly Nasus should do more for his team than Shyv will so I'd say that's your best bet as far as counterpicking Shyvana goes. Remember just because you win your lane it in no way means you should win the game. You have to create map pressure and rotate to win games.

Elohell is like Irelia's stun: if your real level is equal or lower than the level you are in, you're STUNNED there forever. If your actual level is higher than the level you are in, you're just SLOWED in your way up.
