Ok, I just did the math and compared Void Staff against Rabadon Deathcap, with rest of the build and with LB on lvl 18. Just for the others, I present results here:
DMG(Rabadon) = (BASE_SPELL_DMG + MY_AP * SPELL_EFFICIENCY * 1.3) * 100 / (100 + ENEMY_MR - FLAT_MPEN)
DMG(Void) = (BASE_SPELL_DMG + MY_AP * SPELL_EFFICIENCY) * 100 / (100 + 0.65 * ENEMY_MR - FLAT_MPEN)
Comparison of damage from Sigil Spell Q with BASE_SPELL_DMG = 155, SPELL_EFFICIENCY = 0.4, FLAT_MPEN = 35 and MY_AP(Raba) = 120 or MY_AP(Void) = 70 + 50 = 120 (I did correction for Void Staff price: common price for 1 AP is 20 gold and Void Staff is cheaper by 1000 gold, thus I added 50 AP into Void Staff AP) gives results according to ENEMY_MR (Magic Resist)
ENEMY_MR = 30 => Void Staff is better if AP < 153
ENEMY_MR = 50 => Void Staff is better if AP < 438
ENEMY_MR = 75 => Void Staff is better if AP < 1068
ENEMY_MR = 100 => Void Staff is better if AP < 2645
Moreover, I calculated LB's damage of full Q R E combo (BASE_SPELL_DMG(Q) = 155, SPELL_EFFICIENCY(Q) = 0.4, BASE_SPELL_DMG(R(Q)) = 300, SPELL_EFFICIENCY(R(Q)) = 0.65, BASE_SPELL_DMG(E) = 140, SPELL_EFFICIENCY(E) = 0.5) either with Rabadon, either with Void as
COMBO_DMG = 2 * DMG(Q) + 2 * DMG(R) + 2 * DMG(E)
with results according to full builds (Rabadon => MY_AP = (120 + 120 + 80 + 50 + 60) * 1.3 = 559, Void => MY_AP = (120 + 70 + 80 + 50 + 60) = 380) and with respect to ENEMY_MR as
ENEMY_MR = 30 => COMBO_DMG(Rabadon) = 3070 and COMBO_DMG(Void) = 2798
ENEMY_MR = 50 => COMBO_DMG(Rabadon) = 2536 and COMBO_DMG(Void) = 2424
ENEMY_MR = 75 => COMBO_DMG(Rabadon) = 2084 and COMBO_DMG(Void) = 2076
ENEMY_MR = 100 => COMBO_DMG(Rabadon) = 1766 and COMBO_DMG(Void) = 1818
Since dmg is similar, Void Staff looks definetly better than Rabadon Deathcap due to lower price. To be sure, I will test it in game and then I will change my guide. Ty for advice, emoriam.
Damn logic. I really can't get why you wouldn't purchase and optimal item which help you breaking resistances so it would help you more building
Exactly. Void staff improves dmg, but if I am not able to kill enemy tank, it is still useless. Maybe I do bigger dmg, however enemy survives and I die in the chase (most of tanks have either speed spell or jump spell). On the contrary, Rylais does smaller dmg, but slows him and gives me tactical advantage. It allows me stay outside his range, yet be able return quickly, when my spells refresh.
I agree. But as I said before: I kill enemy ADC anyway without Void Staff. (usually Death Grasp and Rabadons Deathcap is enough) and I cant kill enemy tank even with Void Staff. Thus, I cannot afford lose one item slot with Void Staff. I need some tactical advantage and Rylais is good compromise: little AP + some HP + slow effect. This allows u at least fight enemy tanks. With void staff u must simply run away, no chance for win over enemy tank.
Have u ever played LB against tanky team? Lets assume Renekton (with stun), Jarvan (with jump), Amumu (jump AND stun), etc. You can either try overcome their magic resists with bigger AP and Void Staff (but u wont give them IK anyway and after your combo u dies, since the tanks have jumps or speed and OP basic attack + LB is paper (low HP)) OR u can immobilize them, save your W as counter against their jump, slow them with spamming Q with 3sec CD and watch then slowly die. I tried both cases and only the second one really worked.
Seriously? Ofc you should kill the ADC but not being able to do anything else won't help you winning the game.
About the runes, I still believe in 20 MPen and 5 AP. As I did explain in the text, so much mpen as possible will help u get the kill on lvl 6 even without ignite. Lets assume u poked enemy to his 80% of his hp during 1-5 lvl. Enemy has few pots too, he pokes u too, so its reasonable that both of u have 80% HP at lvl 5. Then u unlock R at 6 lvl and kill him with Q R W E combo in 1 second. It works only with 20Mpen and 5 AP. I often do it. Of course, if I misclick, I die, no question about that.
About the barrier, it is the best spell u can have. Let me explain: most of enemies will have ignite. Since u are already poked to 80% of hp, u may obtain some dmg during the 1 second IK QRWE combo. Thus u have 20% hp left. Now, I killed enemy (or scared him at least), reactivated W and I am out of enemy range, but I may still die too, since he used ignite on me. Thats when barrier comes handy. Moreover, barrier has much better use in late, when TF are chaotic.
The emoriam's comment suggested Void Staff. I dont need it. I know from my own experience that I can kill enemy ADC (or any paper champ) without it and I CANT kill good enemy tank what-so-ever. Now, if enemy ADC build MR, bad for him, he lose his dmg. About enemy tanks, I dont focus them, only slows them with Q and Rylais. The fact is that Q has the smallest cooldown, but does "only" dmg. Now I can use it as crowd-control spell too. If the tank chase me, I slow him each 3 seconds and eventually kill him veeeery-slowly. Moreover, since many champs has long range area of effect spells, I need survive in late game a little bit, thus I need the HP from Rylais too. The will of the Ancients helps me survive too and helps with HP, so I dont go base and risc TF without me.
About the "troll guide" comment, I dont understand what why u say that. Most of guides on LB are very similar. They all agree about AP items and that Q is her best dmg. Barrier is not "troll" spell on her, since she has little HP and may die easily. If u suggest ignite, ok, it secures kill (if u are not able to kill without it), but u may easily die too by enemy ignite. So, "troll guide" would be AD build on LB with ghost and smite. Not this one.
Now, I already tried many times LB with the defensive runes, other builds and with this offensive runes and this build. So I can comapre it. Did u try it too?
