I don't see reason to hate it.
It was really good change if you think about it a bit, now every defensive item can be built from cloth armor or null magic mantle, so if you have extra gold, you can always buy cloth armor without worying you'll have to sell it because it doesn't build into sunfire.

Agreed. It was also really weird for that while where
Warden's Mail suddenly stopped building out of two cloth armors. And now it's just back to that because they can.

i like the cloth armor > chain vest change
what i hate is having to buy 2 null magic mantles for every MR item
