You can get a decent idea on how to play this pick by just reading through the notes above.
However, if you want to deepen your knowledge, keep reading!
Pre-rework Kayle has always had a place in the support role and in my opinion her viability there has not been tampered by her rework much at all. Her kit features a heal, which doubles as a self-heal too, a pretty big slow, armor and MR shred and an ultimate which makes its target invulnerable.
By leaning into these parts of her kit, we can turn her into one of the most versatile and safest scaling healer in the game!
So how do you play Kayle support?
Play similar to:

This play-style allows you to have an extremely safe lane while having an impactful and strong mid to late game and easily comparing to the meta healers like

|
Kayle is primarily designed as an autoattacker with a home in toplane. The fact, that her intended gameplay revolves almost entirely around AAs results in her actual spells having high mana costs and lower effectiveness early, to offset her insane late game.
Her W is intended to only be used as a nice bit of sustain, to stay in lane longer.
This is not the case when playing Kayle in the support role.
Your W and Q are the main form of interaction you have both with your own team and the enemy team. So how can we off-set her early mana issues?
By fully utilizing our HP bar!
Your W heals both you and your ally, so by trading aggro against the enemy, you are using your W to its full effect and not wasting any healing on a full HP target. Furthermore, do not use your Q in lane, unless you are getting ganked as either a set-up or a disengage. With smart mana usage you can use W pretty comfortably, but not both W and Q!!
I have built Tear on Kayle for the longest time, but it is really not neccessary, unless ur into an impossible matchup. You´re always better off keeping that item slot open and later building a saphire crystal for Frozen Heart.
Once you have Bandleglass mirror, you can be a lot more liberal with your mana use, so just play safe and smart until you reach that point. Kind of like a Yuumi without a Faerie Charm. Once you get Bandleglass mirror, ur home free.
Q:
How do I stack up Manaflow Band? |
A: As was explained in the Mana-gement section of the quide, using Q in lane is not a good idea unless you wanna run out of mana within like 2 rotations. Luckily your E empowered AA counts as a spell, so you can stack up Manaflow in relative safety. |
Q:
Why do I keep losing early game? |
A: Kayle has a very very weak early game to compensate for her incredible late game. Focus entirely on survival pre-6, with the exception of getting EASY manaflow stacks with E and healing up yourself and your ally at the same time. If your ADC wants to fight early, it is possible because your E has execute damage, but I strongly advise against this playstyle. |
Q:
How do I use my R better? |
A: There are 2 important things to remember about Kayle R. First of all, it gives its target invulnerability, meaning any damage dealt is completely DENIED. This means, that you should not always wait till the last moment to use your R! Sometimes it is better used to deny a huge burst of damage or to set-up a dive. Second important fact about your R, is that it LOCKS YOU into an ANIMATION and you are unable to AA nor use spells for the first second or so of casting it, meaning that casting R on an ally leaves you without self peel nor the ability to heal your allies for a bit, which can be deteremental in a team fight! Keep this animation lock in mind, to not accidentally int. If you are ulting yourself, this animation lock is a non-factor, because the invulnerability applies to you the moment you cast your R. |
Q:
How should I approach my kit in late game? |
A: It is not always needed to only use your W for healing. It is also a massive MS boost. Use it to engage, chase and disengage with your team. Your W, if cast on air targets the lowest HP ally in your area, but you can choose which ally to boost by hovering your cursor over them as you cast. Also remember to focus tanks with your Q for armor shred, unless you need the slow for peel. Weaving in AAs in between spells helps out quite a bit, because your base damage is pretty high, espc when exalted. |
