This is your most consistent, easiest form of Udyr. It is extremely reliable and can be played to the highest ranks on your server. If you are learning Udyr, I recommend people to start with this version of Udyr.

Keep in mind with tank Udyr, you can still carry! Most of the highest ranked Udyr players still build mejai's and flex into fun damage items when ahead. This is an extremely fun playstyle as you should never die with all the resistances from your items, turtle shields, conquerer healing, and movement speed. Let's jump in!

Tank Udyr is INSANE at peeling and soaking damage. 99% of the time, you should be using your Awakening (ultimate cd from passive) on your W. Just by spamming your W on cooldown,you can mitigate more damage than Mundo, Ornn, ChoGath, etc.

The fun part about tank Udyr is that he can still outduel most champs! Your awaken Q (even at one point in Q- use awaken Q if enemy is isolated!) scales off ability power, so if anyone is isolated you can always choose to do ~40% of their max health instead of using your W awakening.

Additionally, Tank Udyr gets access to awaken R damage + scaling. It is a giant AOE that is POTENT late game. Combined with bear stuns, giant shields, and the occasional awaken R- Udyr can peel ANYTHING and ANYONE in the game.

That being said, you need to create a win condition in one of your lanes as Tank Udyr. It does not matter who it is, but you really want to have at least one other person on your team who can carry because Udyr can 2v5 insanely welll with a fed carry.

Experience is everything on Udyr. Make sure to keep your farm above 8 cs / min at all times - it is super super important. Your entire kit scales with xp (more damage, bigger shields, bigger awakenings) so if you fall behind in tempo it will be very hard.

Mindset - you are a military grade titanium tank! Nothing can get through you with your turtle shields. Don't let the infantry on your team get mowed down- soak the damage baby!

Early game is critical on Tank Udyr. If you start snowballing, you often won't lose- but if you get invaded or die, it's going to be rough.

I do raptor clears every single game on Tank Udyr, as I find it to be the most consistent and safest way to get fated ashes + dark seal. If you need help clearing with Udyr, here is a quick guide: Play Video
After Fates Ashes + Dark Seal purchase (1250g - you should have after a full raptor start 100% of the time) I go clear my 2nd quadrant and eat the first objective. The level 5 spike + fated ashes is what allows you to start the snowball momentum.

Before rift herald spawns at 14 mins, with Tank Udyr you want to stay on the map as long as possible. You can farm insanely fast + your magical boots will pop around 9-12 mins. With dark seal hopefully stacking, your clear speed gets insane with 3 points+ in R.

In this phase of the game, YOU ARE NOT STRONG. Most junglers hit their level 6 spikes and build better PVP item components (sorc boots, lethality, phage, etc). However, you can still punish bad ganks and force easy ganks if you find the right moments.

Try to get dragons or rift grubs, whichever is easiest depending on game state + team comp. Both forms of stacking - Grubs vs Dragons - work very well on Tank Udyr.

Biggest thing - farm safely, stay on the map, and try to pick up free dark seal stacks on easy ganks. 2100g is your next target back for your full first item, but if you can't make it there 1300g will work for the haunting guise component of Liandries.

Hopefully, you have liandries and some dark seal stacks + magical boots. NOW THE FUN BEGINS.

Try to upgrade to mejai's ASAP. With Liandries, you can start Awaken R diving the enemy bot or top. You can also start to kite people out with your 30% R slow + liandries burn, which HURTS like heck at this point in the game.

If you can't get a fast mejai's (try to upgrade at around 6-10 stacks), you can get either boots of swiftness or sorc boots next. Both will improve your tempo (sorc boots make you do extra damage to your jungle camps which have MR).

With Tank Udyr, you can soak anything in the game except insane executes if you are below 50% (Garen villain R, low health veigar ult, etc). As long as you keep this in mind, you should never die.

Awaken W becomes a Mundo ult at this point in the game. At level 11 and 16 your awakening cooldown also gets lower, and you're also tanky at 20 min onwards so you can frontline + auto attack cycle your passive. Truthfully, you should be using Awaken W 90% of the time on this build.

You will LAUGH SO HARD when you realize how unkillable Udyr becomes. Especially if you go unending depair + spirit visage combo, it is insane. Part of the reason why mejais is so good on this build is because you never die so you get to keep your stacks.

Keep in mind - you should only dive if you know you can kill the backline. Other than that, peeling is tank Udyr's kingdom and best strength- they can NEVER engage against you. A lot of Tank Udyr's try to use awaken R and flash late game, which is where they go wrong- just awaken W and sit on your carries!

General Tips:
- Awaken Q isolated targets
- Awaken W the other 90% of the time
- Peeling > Diving > Splitpushing
- Never awaken E on Tank
- Mejai's is core and should be purchased ASAP
- Raptor starts and experience early game
- Farm safely to 14 mins or so, but try to get free ganks
- Snowball 14 min - 20 min
- 20 Min+ Bully the Enemy Engage :)
