Get at least 2 stacks of your passive if you're level 6. R should bring it to 3 stacks, Q brings it to 4 stacks and W to 5, which activates the passive and instantly resets the Q allowing you to burst on.

If you're not very familiar with the combo you might want to start with 4 stacks and just use your W to proc the passive though.

Combo is W - QEQ - W - QEQ - W

Be very careful with delay and remember every single spell has a tiny casting animation. They aren't instant so even though you are smashing your buttons, be sure to mash one button at a time and not hit the other one until you are sure that the last one went off. Also remember that after the QE the next Q will have a 0.25 second delay, be sure walk forward a little bit during that time too. You might even QE-QW-QE-QW-QE-qW

IF YOUR OPPONENT ISN'T NEARLY DEAD AFTER YOUR PASSIVE ENDS IT'S USUALLY BEST TO RUN AND STACK IT BEFORE TRADING AGAIN!

Ryze is best on toplane because most enemies are either melee or don't have many long range spells to damage you, which means they have to get into your W range to lasthit minions. Also longer lane means they can't instantly flash under the turret
