Introduction

FIRST OFF My english is not that great, it's not my first language.

I'm a low elo Rakan main looking to climb up, ever since his release I've mained him and found some success but him even if lately I've been getting shut down a lot with those CC heavy support down botlane.

I'm a Support main since season 7 start, been playing since Preseason 5, around the time that Illaoi came out so I ain't a veteran. Started to play a lot of Jinx, then loved Sion top and then got down to supporting, CSing was really hard for me and I always was good with vision IMO so I stuck to it then Rakan came out and I actually had a main other then Tahm.

Runes

First Tree - Sorcery

Keystone: Aery - I take Aery because of how well it synergies with Rakan kits. He gives him a bit more damage and a bit more shield and Rakan shielding and damage being very close Aery comes back very quickly meaning you'll use it a lot.

Manaflow Band - I take Manaflow Band because I poke a lot with my Q and Rakan being so Spell Reliant always needs mana.
Why not Ultimate Hat ? My build already gives me a lot of CDR so my ult is up often enough.
Why not Nullifying Orb ? If I end up taking it, it's because they got a lot of AP damage but other than that I don't take it.

Transcendance - I take Transcendance because I want to get the most AP possible and looking more for the late game than the early game with my build. I get a lot of CDR that eventually overcap giving me a lot of AP.
Why not Celerity ? I'll take if I got for a more engage kind of build and not my more AP Focus/Max CDR build.
Why not Absolute Focus ? You're getting in the center of the team, it's not very smart thinking you won't get hit and stay above 70%, espacially with my build making me pretty squishy.

Gathering Storm - Like I said, I'm aiming for the late game getting a lot of AP from it making all my skill hit hard and healing/shield for A LOT.
Why not sorch ? I only take it when I know I can win lane.
Why not WaterWalking ? It's very bad in general.

Second Tree - Resolve

Unflinching - It gives me survability when I flash in/Ignite the carry.
Why not Demolish ? Rakan is range AND my build doesn't give me HP.
Why not Font of Life ? I sometimes take Font of Life being a very good mastery but the heal scales off HP not AP so the only thing that my build give it is my Max Heal/Shield Power, Athene and Ardent and I prefer to choose to who I give my Athene and Font will just give it away.

Revitalize - For the Max Heal/Shield Power and the bonus healing when they're low, making my heal and shield MONSTRUOUS.
Why not Overgrowth ? I want that 5% Heal/Shield Power and also I don't want to be tanky with this build.
Why not Second Wind ? 5% Heal/Shield Power is what I want and I'm good at dodging so poking isn't a problem.

Items

Starting Items

Spell Thief - When you can get some Q's but don't force it, your life isn't worth the gold.
Ancient Coin - When you'll just get either pushed in or won't be able to get some Q's in.

CORE ITEMS

Athene's Unholy Grail
Athene is actually very good you'll always get a stronger heal, your Q does damage giving you Blood Points for your heal. After a big engage it gives a good heal when you'll E away so think about the target you want to give the big heal.

Ardent Censer
ONLY RUSH ARDENT IF YOU HAVE AN ADC THAT CAN REALLY USE THAT ATTACK SPEED.
If not, Athene. Ardent is a great second Item but not that great first nowadays, execept if you have a Auto Attack focus ADC like Kog'Maw or Jinx.

Redemption
I mostly get Redemption third or second but almost never first, I don't find it worth it and that impactful but If you're behind it can be worth to always have a heal on you.

Other Items

Zeke: It works so well on Rakan, the only time it's not that good is with a Jhin, not auto attacking very fast and clearly doesn't spreads his AA with a hurricane or feathers.
Locket: Super good if you got for a more tanky build, works well with gargoyle.
Righteous: I feel like it's a bit overkill but if you're the main engage it's clearly worth.
Mikeal: With Ardent and Redemption you get the full heal and shield power you can get making you a monster peeler.
Gargoyle: Works wonders with locket.
Abyssal: Very good if you have a lot of magic damage.
Rabadon: Lot of AP, Rakan loves AP.
Luden: Gives MS and AP, but there are better option.
Protobelt: It's funny, not that useful but funny.

Boots

Mobility if you plan to roam a lot, mainly because you can't do a lot in botlane.
Swiftness is a either you don't really know what to do so you'll roam sometimes, try doing something bot.
Lucidity if you got for my Transcendance OverCap AP build.
Mercury's for CC heavy comps.
Tabi against AA heavy ADC.
