[14.5] Sivir Guide by misterfirstblood

By misterfirstblood
Introduction
Hello guys, I'm MisterFirstBlood from EUW and today I'm gonna show you how to play the reworked version of Sivir.
Summary of Patch 12.13 (Sivir rework) and later patches
12.13 (rework)
First of all: All of her base stats (except mana) got nerfed but her scalings got improved so shes a bit weaker in early game but catches up the stats in the lategame.

The movement speed from her passive got massively increased.
Her Q deals way less damage and has a worse scaling than before while her cooldown is massively increased, but you can increase its damage up to 50% by buying critical strike chance, so in the late game you probably have the same raw damage from this ability (Except the fact you dont build her on lethality anymore and considering that, it might be weaker again)
But its traveling speed and casting time is now faster and it costs way less mana so you are not forced to embed a tear of goddess in your item build anymore, which offers a lot of new item paths.

Your W Ability's Mana cost and damage also got reduced and the cooldown is changed from 12-6 to 10 seconds flat. But in compensation to all those nerfs sivir now gains 20-40% additional attack speed after activating W and the range and speed of the Ricochets got improved, even though they removed the unlimited bounce mechanic.

Instead of restoring mana with your spell shield you now gain health back and trigger your passive at the same time, sadly the cooldown on later levels got increased, but overall thats a huge buff, rewarding a well timed spellshield and offering a lot of sustain and utility to the new sivir.

Because her attack speed got moved to the W ability her Ultimate Ability doesnt offer attack speed anymore, but her Attacks reduce the cooldown of other abilities by 0.5 seconds for each auto attack while its active, also its duration resets after shutdown/assists and the cooldown itself got reduced and the duration increased.

The new crit focused sivir builds really outshine the older burst-like builds in the lategame. Her AD-Caster and team enabling abilities got replaced by a more regular crit scaling ADC build that chases you down by her own in the late game.

Her Waveclear and laning phase suffers a bit, as well as the early game but i think late game sivir will be a super great option for dealing tons of Area of Effect damage and things like the missile speed, range, and movement speed increase make her feel like a more modern champion.

12.14
Since sivir was totally Op after her rework they decided to nerf her a bit. She loses some waveclear on her W but gets an additional execute for minions below 15 health. Thats pretty fair i must say.

12.15
Seems like sivir was still way too strong back in patch 12.14 so they decided to nerf all her abilities except Q once again. We will have to wait how good she is in this current patch and if that was maybe a bit too much of a nerf.

12.16
Finally nothing happened, so I guess shes at a stable state right now. Enjoy her Gameplay!

12.17
Sivir received a slight nerf once again but im sure shes still in a playable state.
Pro's and con's
+ The arguably best Spellshield in the game.
+ Very nice Ultimate to enable your team
+ Solid waveclear
+ High range ability and solid auto attack range.
+ Strong lategame.

- Weaker in early since 12.13 patch
- 2 of your abilities doesnt really deal damage
- No outplay potential in 1v1 situations since all you can do is right clicking
Spells
Passive: Fleet of Foot

Sivir gains a short burst of Move Speed when she attacks an enemy champion.

Q: Boomerang Blade
Sivir hurls her crossblade like a boomerang, dealing damage each way.

W: Ricochet
Sivir's next few basic attacks will bounce to nearby targets, dealing reduced damage to secondary targets. Ricochets can now bounce back to targets that have already been hit, but only one additional time. Ricochets will prioritize new targets first.
Activating Ricochet grants Sivir bonus attack speed

E: Spell Shield
Creates a magical barrier that blocks a single enemy ability cast on Sivir. She receives Health back if a spell is blocked and procs Sivir’s Passive - Fleet of Foot.

R: On The Hunt
Sivir leads her allies in battle, granting them a surge Move Speed for a period of time. If Sivir assists with a recent takedown while her R - On the Hunt buff is active, its aura will now refresh its duration. Sivir’s basic attacks during R - On the Hunt now reduce her basic ability cooldowns by 0.5 seconds per attack
Items
Since her Rework in Patch 12.13 i don't recommend to build a lethality + Tear of godess build anymore.
Her Q ( Boomerang Blade) now scales with crit and deals 50% additional Damage if you have 100% Critical Strike chance so i highly recommend you to aim for atleast 80% in your core build.

Besides the Boots, the first Item you should aim for is Kraken Slayer. Im currently testing Immortal Shieldbow and Galeforce on her but i really think you neither need additional Sustain, since your Spellshield now restores Health, nor mobility through Galeforce because you already gain a ton of movement speed already. Paired with a spell shield thats more defensive tools than most ADC's have in their kit so you should really look for the highest damage numbers here, since Sivirs Damage numbers all have been decreased by a ton. (especially in early)

After finishing Boots and your mythical, you should aim for more Crit damage. Infinity Edge is now with patch 13.1b and above the most obvious choice while Essence Reaver and Phantom Dancer are the most common Options for your third choice. Lord Dominik's Regards and Mercurial Scimitar are more situational ones if you are against a lot of tanks or hard cc.
You can finish of your build with either Bloodthirster, Heal Reduce, Guardian Angel and an elexir depending on your needs.
Runes
Since the rework in Patch 12.13 i opt for a more ADC Focussed Build and for that reasoning i'd recommend you to go with Lethal Tempo.
Sivir's Attack Range is fine, you can auto attack way more often with your recently added attack speed buff on W and if its fully stacked you gain additional Range. Fleet Footwork feels like a copy of your passive and you already should outsustain most lanes through your Spellshield so i can't recommend it. Press the Attack doesn't sound that good in theory in my opinion, because you often just attack minions or monsters near to your primary targets with your W and hope they start bouncing.
Conqueror needs too long to fully stack imo, also sivir doesnt really shine in that long 2v2 situations compared to a Vayne or something like that. You rather want to position safely and try to hit as many targets as possible so you really need that range.

Presence of Mind is still nice to solve some mana issues while Legend: Alacrity and Coup de Grace boosts your damage by a bit more. Of course depending on the matchup you can go for more fitting ones, but if you are lazy and dont wanna change your rune pages every single game, this is the most versatile recommendation i can give to you.
The second tree saves you some money and gives you more sustain if you decide to chose Biscuit Delivery and Magical Footwear.
Tips
- W does reset your auto attack animation.
- If you play against something like caitlyn who puts traps on the ground, you can restore health by using your spell shield and walking over them.
- Rather block CC with your spellshield than damage. I mean of course it depends on your enemies champ. Blitzcrank hook is deadly and you should always shield it but Caitlyn Q may be not be the best decision when a morgana is able to hit a Q after.
- People completely underrate the damage of your W.
You don't need to attack the carries always. Feel free to activate W into a near minion wave or attack their frontline and your ricochets will do the rest, especially after the update.
- When you are running away from your enemies, keep auto attacking them. The movement speed increase will make it easier for you to escape, and you damage them while they cant really fight back.
Summary
Sivir is a pretty strong and solid pick. You have a lot of defensive tools, a pretty simple kit and the possibility to enable your team with your ultimate while doing massive area of effect damage. All in all its a super great choice not only for beginners.
Thank You!
