This is a definite ban. To counter him you want to only cs with your q and your w. Be prepared to give cs. Not losing is winning.

Champion Build Guide
About Me
Yo. I have a few guides before on this site, one for poppy, and another for Shen. But you're not here to see those, you want to learn about Aatrox. I've been maining Aatrox ever since he got reworked and I can fairly say that I have mastered him. So take my advice or else.
About The guide.
This guide is for people who have recently picked up Aatrox and is looking for help. I'm not going to put his stats and ability info in this guide, people don't need to go to mobafire to see what champs do. Or, you can if you want to. But don't think that i'm gonna do what everyone else does. Whatever ill stop ranting and type the guide.
This will be separated into 3 parts; Early/Laning and Mid/Late and Combos
Early/Laning
Laning phase with Aatrox isn't easy. His Q has great damage but he cant all in. Your play style should be completely different than in lategame. You want to play safe in laning while also dealing out some poke damage with your Q. Once tHey drop below half, play more aggressive and try to go for the kill.
Trading
Trading with Aatrox varies with each champion. An example for
Riven would be to Wait for her Q to go on cooldown, and then use your Q1-Q2+2-W-Q3-P. That combo will deal about 1/3th of her hp. She will be forced to use her potions while you heal with your passive on the minions. For ranged champs like
Neeko and
Vayne, you would want them to use their mobility, and then Start with W, And follow up with your Q1-Q2+E they will be at half hp from that. Rinse and repeat.
What about
Darius and
Kled ? Great Question. Wait for them to engage, then disengage with your E-Q-W all at once. Don't try to fight them. Not losing is winning.
Mid/Late
This is where the teamfights happen. As Aatrox, you want use
World Ender to dive the backline and use all of your abilities on the carry. Your
Death's Dance and your
Umbral Dash will keep you healthy throughout the fight. You can use your
Deathbringer Stance on the tank to get a Massive heal.
If you are behind, NEVER engage. You wont have the stats to dive. Try and let your team or the enemies engage, and wait for the backline to come to you.
Couple Top lane tips:
Split push
TP to fights (at any point in the game)
Why rush Defensive?
Aatrox doesn't need the early damage to win lane. His
Deathbringer Stance and his
The Darkin Blade have a high base damage alone. Getting healthy trades off will help you more than a Phage.
Lethality Or Fighter?
Lethality doesn't give the same sustain as the fighter build. Aatrox needs the sustain to do what hes meant to do; Diving the enemies in teamfights; Being the unstoppable force. When you hit your 3 item powerspike, you wont die. Thats it. Throw in a
Spirit Visage. GG.
Final 2 Items?
In most cases, your build should look like this:
Black Cleaver Gives you great damage with the 40 ad and Armor Pen.The phage passive that comes along with it synergies really well with your
World Ender
[
Conqueroris the best rune to go on Aatrox.
The Grasp build gives you good hp sustain in laning, but once you hit lategame, Conqueror does the job better. Electrocute is a nice burst build, but that's all its good for. Burst. That isn't really good in team fights.
