Introduction

Welcome to my AD kayle guide. First of all i'd like to thank you for taking the time to look at my guide. This is my first guide ever so I will try my best to improve on it as i get more experienced. Kayle is a fighter and support champion. She is underestimated as a support champion for the lone reason that other support champions like Soraka, Sona, alister, Janna, etc simply have more skills to better support they're team and carry. Whether it be heals, slows, or stuns Kayle just doesn't match up to the other supports in the game. I personally thought Kayle as an easy kill and great way to get fed off of because it seemed that every other Kayle player I met just didn't understand how to play to here strengths and care for her weaknesses. When I first started playing Kayle I hated playing her as a support or tank. To me she didn't feel like she was meant to play a support role on a team.

Searching for different guides for Kayle and ran across a On-Hit guide. It was a great guide and made Kayle feel like a very strong and fearful opponent. There was one problem with the guide. The problem was that On-Hit Kayle seemed to fall off into late game. Tankier champions had too much health and armour and other AD carries out damaged Kayle in late game. This is when I tested a simple AD carry build on Kayle in one of my games and one thing led to another it was outstanding. The build had survivability and damage in one great build. It seemed in every game it didn't matter how bad we were losing Kayle still managed to carry, the second Kayle got 2-3 kills early game it was carry mode from there on. So sit back, relax and read on :D

Kayle's Lore

In a world far away where an ancient war still rages, Kayle was a great hero - the strongest of an immortal race committed to destroying evil wherever it could be found. For ten thousand years, Kayle fought tirelessly for her people, wielding her flaming sword forged before time itself. She shielded her delicate features beneath her enchanted armor, the sole remaining masterpiece of an extinct race of craftsmen. Though a beautiful, striking creature, Kayle, now as then, avoids showing her face; war has taken a terrible toll upon her spirit. In her quest for victory, she sometimes would try to lift the wicked up from their morass of evil, but more than often she instead purged those she herself deemed beyond redemption. To Kayle, justice can so often be an ugly thing.

Ten years ago, Kayle's war against evil was nearly won... until her rebellious sister Morgana, a pariah amongst their people, suddenly gained powerful new allies: magicians of a hitherto unknown world called Runeterra. Morgana traded servitude to a number of the summoners in Runeterra's League of Legends for powerful new abilities that, if mastered, threatened to bring Kayle and her people to their knees. To save her world, Kayle had no choice but to make a pact with the League herself. She approached the leader of the League, High Counselor Reginald Ashram, with a deal of her own. In exchange for a thousand years of Kayle's service, Ashram halted all League interference on Kayle's world. With Ashram's disappearance five years ago, Kayle has new causes on Valoran: find out who or what caused Ashram to disappear, defeat her sister Morgana upon the Fields of Justice, and bring her own brand of justice to the League of Legends.

Pros / Cons

PROS

    Very High Damage
    A Slow
A single target heal (very useful throughout the game)
    A Fantastic passive
Melee and Ranged attack possibilities choices
    High Mobility from her
Divine Blessing
Team fight changer ultimate
Nice splash damage from Righteous Fury

CONS

    A bit squishy
    High cooldown on heal
Her ultimate only protects from damage. Slows and stuns still effect you
Once they know your ultimate and or heal is down, they pile on you ):

Skill Sequence

Holy Fervor: When kayle attacks a champion, the target loses 3% armor and magic resist for 5 seconds. This effect stacks up to 5 times. This passive is the best passive in league of legends. (in my opinion) This can mean you won't have to build armor pen or magic pen unless it's really crucial (that's why I added the black cleaver in the build sequence, but honestly it's up to you)
Reckoning: Blasts an enemy unit with angelic force, dealing damage and slowing movement speed. While the target is slowed, Kayle inflicts increased damage to them.
Blasts a target, dealing 60/110/160/210/260 (+1.0) (+1) magic damage
and slowing their Movement Speed by 35% for 4 seconds.

While the target is slowed, Kayle inflicts 6/7/8/9/10% increased damage to them.
Cost
70/75/80/85/90 Mana
Range
650
This should be used as your first skill when engaging a fight against someone. This should be used along with your E to do "TONS OF DAMAGE" early game and slow them from running away from you and as a bonus you do more damage to that target!
Divine Blessing:Blesses a target friendly champion, granting them increased movement speed and healing them.
Blesses an allied champion, increasing their Movement Speed by 18/21/24/27/30% for 3 seconds and healing them for 60/105/150/195/240 (+0.35) health.
Cost
60/70/80/90/100 Mana
Range
1000
This skill doesn't really heal much in this particular build with kayle, but it can mean the difference between life and death. Primarily I use this as a quick speed boost to help me run away (wait scratch that, KAYLE NEVER RUNS :D) or catch up and kill an enemy champion. Now Don't be afraid to use this to heal a friendly ally or give them a boost if you see them chasing and enemy! Also early game this ability will still heal quite a bit so if you need to slap it on yourself and heal up. :)
Righteous Fury: Ignites Kayle's sword with a holy flame, granting Kayle a ranged splash attack and bonus magic damage.
Kayle increases her Attack Range by 400 for 10 seconds and deals an additional 20/30/40/50/60 (+0.4) magic damage with her basic attacks. Enemies nearby the target take 20/25/30/35/40% of her Attack Damage plus 20/30/40/50/60 (+0.4) magic damage.
Cost
45 Mana
Range
0
This right here is what makes kayle hurt even more along with her Q. This should be used when fighting against champions ALL THE TIME!!! Now use it on almost everything, But PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DEMACIA (lulwut..) don't use it to clear a wraith camp while there are enemies right beside you fighting with your allies. Forget the wraiths and use that Q and E on champions and kill them all and save your fellow Heroes.
Intervention:Shields Kayle or an ally for a short time, causing them to be immune to damage.
Bathes Kayle's target in a holy light, rendering them immune to all damage for 2/2.5/3 seconds.
Cost
100/75/50 Mana
Range
1200
This right here is the one ability which can turn a horrible team fight into the best team fight ever. Try to use this on fellow carries or yourself when your tower diving, fighting an enemy champion and your getting low on health. Try not to use it on a tank or support, unless you really have to or there is no one else in danger. I say this because a tank or support isn't going to kill everyone and win the game. I'm not saying it's not possible but usually that doesn't happen. Try to use this on people who can actually dish out a fair amount of damage.

Farming

Farming with Kayle are the most rewarding and also the most annoying things to do. Farming with Kayle early game is annoying due go the fact that when you go in for a last hit with Righteous Fury ,your splash damage hit other minions and can make it harder for you to last hit the other creeps. In most cases your ally minions end up taking the creep kill and/or your lane is extremely pushed. Now you can farm without your Righteous Fury, but the only problem is that you'r exposing Kayle more by getting within melee range of minions and your most likely in the range of an enemy carry. Now if the enemy carry is any good he'll harass you every time you try to go in for a creep kill.

A few tips and reminders that I can give to you guys is that if the enemy is harassing you turn on Righteous Fury and start hitting them or the minions. This way you'll be getting some minions and also not allowing the enemy carry to farm because your splash damage will hurt them quite a bit. Obviously your lane will get pushed pretty hard this way. Knowing when to farm with or without Righteous Fury simply comes down to the situation your in. If the enemy is tower hugging and not harassing, go in and last hit minions without Righteous Fury. This allows you to cs better and it makes sure your Righteous Fury is most likely up for an engagement.

Map Awareness

As a Carry you need to know when to dive, farm, attack, go buy, help, or fall back. This is why there is a mini map in league of legends. Obviously you can see where your team mates are and if their in trouble or not. Now the single most thing I can't stress enough is that make sure your team has wards on the map. Wards save lives and can also help your team to counter jungle, counter gank, and even know when to push or when to play passive. Try to make sure you know where the enemy team's jungler is as much as you can. If your support has Clairvoyance, make sure she's using it to find out where their jungler is in his jungle route or try to find out where the enemy mia's are. Make sure to remind your support or tank to ward as much as possible. There is no reason why you should not have wards covering the map.

Green Dots are where wards should always be placed generally

These wards should generally be on the map throughout the game for vision to keep an eye out for incoming ganks.

Red Dots are the wards that MUST be there all the time.

Ward dragon about 10 mins in game and baron at about 25-30 mins in game, and make sure it's continuously warded.

Blue Dots are where wards should be placed due to your situation.

For example if the enemy lane is camping the side bushes, tell you your support or tank to put place a ward in the bush so you know what he's doing in there and also you can harass him out of it.

Purple Wards are for counter jungling

These can be used to see where the jugler is in his jungle route and when his buffs are up and when you can counter jungle and take his buff and/or kill him/her.

Summoner Spells

Now I'll list the Summoner Spells from what I most recommend to what I least recommend. Those which are not listed are to be not used on Kayle in my opinion.
Flash: This is one of the best spells to escape from a dangerous position, get away, or catch up to kill someone. Plain and simple.
Ghost: Serves pretty much the same purpose with flash but this time this can be used along with Divine Blessing to give yourself a HUGE movement speed bonus.
Exhaust: I would use this as a second summoner spell along with flash or ghost to slow down or reduce the damage output of an enemy while you run away (wait Kayle never runs) or beat on an enemy.
Ignite: Second summoner along with Ghost or Flash. This really is to finish of champions which you may not be able to on your own. I can sometime recommend this over Exhaust at times. But choose which ever suits your play style more.
Heal: I honestly don't prefer this for the fact that you have your W, life steal, pots, and also in most cases a support which heals you in lane and in team fights. So there shouldn't be a reason for you to need this, but I guess if you play super aggressive you could pick this.
Surge: I personally don't like this spell. I forget to use it at times and it doesn't really seem to make much of a difference in mid-late game. Only seems like a early game spell. That's why I put this as last.
Teleport: This is a great spell if your going solo top or in the slight chance you may be going mid. The reason why is because if you have to leave your lane to go buy something, heal, or even gank, this can be helpful to get back to your lane as fast as possible and prevent any unnecessary damage to your tower.

Now these are the only TOP spells I would use on kayle. The spells not listed are spells that I wouldn't use on AD Kayle.

Items

The item sequence that I would most recommend is at the top of the page. The reason I put Doran's Blade was because I sometimes use it when i'm up against someone who needs to be harassed a ton and I have a trusty support with me who is able to sustain me. Another starting set of starting items can be Boots and three health pot. This set will give you the early move speed and sustain from the three pots. This is a good default set if your unsure of the situation your lane will be in. Another set of starting items that I started using in season 3 was the Long Sword and two health pots. This gives you some damage and sustain in lane. It also helps you in transitioning into mid/late game, when you get your Bloodthirster or black clever. NOTE! Lately going long sword and two health pots does not seem to be as good as going dorans blade or boots three. The reason being is that dorans just seems to give you everything you need early game before your first back, and also boots three also gives you the sustain you may need and the movement speed.

On your first back you want to be able to upgrade to tier two boots and either buy a dorans blade / B. F. Sword / or be able to upgrade your Long Sword (if you started with it) into a Vampiric Scepter.

You want to make it your first priority to get your Infinity Edge as fast as you can! Infinity Edge is the one main item in your build that you CANNOT hold off on.

In terms of attack speed, I use to recommend phanton dancer in season 2, however with all the new items in season 3, I now recommend Zephyr for the needed attack speed and movement speed. Though Phantom Dancer does give you critical strike, Zephyr makes up for that, by giving you more attack damage, movement speed, and most importantly cool down reduction. Cool down gives kayle a ton more "lee"way (Get it? :3) at what times she can use her "e" [righteous fury]. The extra cool down reduction helps in making sure [kayle] has the ability up more frequently. It also gives Tenacity which can be really helpful in reducing the duration of all forms of cc.

For survivability I recommend getting Frozen Mallet. This gives you survivability and the passive slow so you don't have to wait for your Q to slow someone. It also gives you some extra damage.

Life Steal can really help you survive and heal up on minions and champions while your fighting. This can help to keep you alive for longer - The much needed life steal to keep you alive longer in team fights. Therefore blood thirster is the way to go.

If your getting focused get Guardian Angel. It will give you armour, magic resist, and a passive revive upon death.

Personally I recommend the black clever as your last item. Read more below for the reason.

I don't really Last Whisper on Kayle because Black Cleaver is simply better in MOST situations. The reason why is below... Now this doesn't mean that you don't buy this. Look at the situation your in and buy items accordingly.

Now the reason I didn't put in "Last Whisper" was because I felt that Black Clever was better. Now after A bit of discussion with friends and some searching on the internet I found some information which helps to support my decision to pick black clever over "Last Whisper"

Black Clever on Ad carries on Team Dignitas Web
Now If you read the link you can see already see the math done with kayle's passive combined with black Clever.
Quoted:
Kayle's Passive shreds on hit, thus making it synergize incredibly well with the Black Cleaver (3% on hit, can stack 5 times = 15% shred)

Quoted:
Your Calculated Armor reduction on target

200 - 45 = 155

155 - 15% (23.25) = 131.75

131.75 - 31 = 100.75

100.75 - 10% (10.075) = 90.68 (rounded)

Also by using Last Whisper yes it's true you don't have to stack the debuff, but as the Link said that armour reduction is ONLY FOR YOU. It doesn't reduce it for other's on your team. While Shredding armour abilities is for you whole team! Also as another positive shredding armour can give enemies with low armour NEGATIVE armour which gives BONUS DAMAGE to you and your team mates.

Please Check that link for more information!

Runes (IMAGES WILL BE FIXED IN NEXT UPDATE) ^_^

: I use this for the early game attack speed boost. Kayle needs to get as many auto attacks of while her Q and E are in affect. So this can help by getting more attacks of on the enemy to run them down faster. You can also use Armour Pen or attack damage as a substitute.

: Simply for the extra armour. You can also use Attack speed.

You can either use these per level ones or flat magic resist ones. I use per level ones because those are the ones I have and are what I use for jungling too.

Simply for the extra armour pen. Dealing more damage with less damage...if that makes any sense, you can also use attack damageand also attack speed onesbut I dont really recommend these ones.

Summary

To wrap things up, Kayle can be a devastating champion. Her burst damage is CRAZY early game. If you get to a bad start early on you can still recover by farming up a few creeps and still carry in mid and late game. Play to her strengths and watch out for her weaknesses. Get good positioning in team fights and you'll hopefully survive the battle and get a lot of kills and/or deal a lot of damage. Remember If the enemy team sees you ult someone they will probably switch targets either to you or someone else who is easy to kill. Good Luck and Enjoy Carrying Teams from now on :D. PS: I'll be posting pictures of my score using this build. If you would like you can like your own pictures using this build too :D. Leave comments on tips on how to improve the build and what else you would like me to cover or add on to. Thank you (:
