Extremely strong early. If he snowballs, the lane becomes very hard. Tristana must play around cooldowns and avoid early trades unless coordinated with support.
Recommended items:
Draven dominates early trades with heavy burst damage, so playing safe and farming is important until you get stronger.
Plated Steelcaps reduces incoming basic attack damage, which helps a lot against his auto attacks.
Death’s Dance gives some damage, lifesteal, and converts a portion of damage taken into a bleed effect, which smooths out burst damage and helps survive his heavy trades.
Guardian Angel to survive his snowball potential and get a second chance in fights.

Notes
- Patch 5.24: Passive damage from Statikk Shiv and Rapid Firecannon no longer stacks, but the combo remained viable for its stats and effects.
- Patch 25.11: Completely update of the entire guide.
Pros: + Strong early-game burst damage. + Exceptional late-game damage with attack speed and range; one of the best ADCs when fully built. + Great escape tool thanks to ![]() + Easy to farm safely using ![]() |
Cons: - Very squishy and vulnerable to burst. - Ultimate can be fatal if used at the wrong time. - ![]() - Lane often pushes unintentionally due to explosive charge procs when last-hitting. |
The best and most reliable summoner spells for ADC are usually

For Support:
The optimal summoner spells for your support are

If your support prefers

Passive

Rapid Fire (Q)
Her first ability is

Rocket Jump (W)
Her second ability is

- Escaping when caught.
- Closing the gap on an enemy who is about to escape.
- Jumping onto large waves of minions to clear faster.
The cooldown resets on kills or assists, which makes it a valuable tool for aggressive plays and chasing kills.
Explosive Charge (E)
Her third ability is

- The active lets you place a bomb on an enemy that lasts a few seconds. You stack damage by attacking the target until it explodes, dealing area damage after four hits.
- The passive causes you to deal bonus damage to nearby enemies when you kill a unit.
Buster Shot (R)
Her ultimate,

Precision grants 18% attack speed, perfect for Tristana’s hyper-carry playstyle. This helps her reach attack speed cap faster, sometimes needing fewer AS items.
Lethal Tempo: After attacking an enemy champion, gain attack speed for a short duration, allowing you to shred enemies in extended fights.
Triumph: Restores 15% of missing health and grants 25 bonus gold on champion takedowns.
Legend: Alacrity: Gain 3% attack speed plus an additional 1.5% per legend stack. You earn stacks by killing champions, epic monsters, large monsters, and minions.
Coup de Grace: Deal increased damage to enemies below 40% health, helping you secure kills.
Taste of Blood: Heals you for a portion of the damage dealt to enemy champions, increasing your sustain in lane and fights.
Treasure Hunter: Grants bonus gold for unique champion takedowns, helping you snowball faster.
Starting Items
These three items are the standard start for most Marksmen. If you expect heavy poke, consider

Core Build (Full DPS)
Berserker's Greaves — Attack speed and movement speed to improve DPS and positioning.
Infinity Edge — Massive critical strike damage and AD, core for your DPS spike.
Yun Tal Wildarrows — Provides attack damage and attack speed, with stacking critical strike chance and bonus attack speed upon attacking enemy champions.
Bloodthirster — Lifesteal and a shield to sustain through fights.
Navori Flickerblade — Reduces cooldown on abilities after critical strikes, perfect synergy with your rapid-fire playstyle.
Lord Dominik's Regards — Armor penetration against tanky foes for late-game damage.
Farsight Alteration — Provides vision control and safety in dangerous areas, crucial for late-game map awareness.
Defensive Build Example
Berserker's Greaves — Standard attack speed boots.
Infinity Edge — Critical strike damage and AD; a key damage item even in defensive builds.
Bloodthirster — Lifesteal and an overheal shield help you sustain during prolonged fights.
Maw of Malmortius — Magic resist and a lifesaving shield against AP burst damage.
Guardian Angel — Revive passive plus armor gives you a second chance in dangerous teamfights.
Navori Flickerblade — Lower cooldowns on abilities through crits, giving more access to your mobility and burst.
Farsight Alteration — Long-range vision tool for safe scouting and late-game map control.
Laning as

- Focus on Consistent CS: Prioritize last-hitting over aggressive trades early, especially against poke-heavy laners like
Caitlyn or
Draven.
- Position Behind Minions: This minimizes poke damage and keeps you safer from skill shots.
- Use Explosive Charge Smartly: Apply it on cannon minions or clustered minions to maximize gold income, but avoid pushing the wave unnecessarily early on.
- Respect Enemy Range: Champions with longer range will punish overextensions—play safe until you gain range and items.
Early game, focus on farming safely and building your core items and abilities before aggressive trades. Use

If your jungler ganks, use your

- Example Counter:
Draven - Avoid extended trades early, farm safely, and wait for jungler assistance.
- Tip: If you anticipate poke, consider early sustain items like
Doran's Shield or
Health Potion to survive lane pressure.
Mid game is often your weaker phase until you complete key items like

Maintain lane control, ward against enemy jungler pressure, and use

- Adapt Your Playstyle: Play safer if behind and look for picks with your team; if ahead, pressure towers and force fights.
- Example Opponent:
Kai'Sa - Be mindful of her burst and mobility. Position safely and build defensive options if needed.
- Ward Aggressively: Vision denies enemy picks and helps you avoid dangerous fights.
Late game is when

In teamfights, position carefully behind your frontline. Use your Q for attack speed bursts and R to peel or secure kills by knocking back threats. Track enemy crowd control carefully and use your jump to reposition or escape.
- Prioritize Targeting: Focus on enemy threats such as enemy ADCs or assassins diving your backline.
- Itemization: Defensive items like
Guardian Angel or
Mercurial Scimitar can save you from burst or crowd control, especially versus champions like
Draven or
Kai'Sa.
- Positioning: Avoid face-checking and stay near peeling supports like
Janna or
Nami.
- When a large minion wave is approaching and enemies aren’t threatening you, place
Explosive Charge (E) on a key minion and hit minions 2–3 times to maximize gold and experience efficiently.
- Your passive’s attack range increase is a vital poke and safety tool—use it to farm and harass safely, especially after level 9.
- When your jungler ganks, be ready to use
Rocket Jump aggressively on the enemy ADC and follow with
Buster Shot (R) to push them into your team or tower.
- Adapt item builds situationally: for example, against high AD burst like
Draven,
Guardian Angel or
Death's Dance helps with survivability; against heavy CC,
Mercurial Scimitar is crucial; versus tanky enemies, prioritize armor penetration like
Lord Dominik's Regards.
- Communicate and coordinate with your support for vision, engages, and peel. Supports like
Leona,
Thresh, and
Nami can make your laning and teamfighting significantly easier.

**Note:** Supports with strong peel and utility like

In teamfights, especially in the late game,

- Stay in the Backline: Your extended range from
Draw a Bead (passive) makes it possible to deal consistent damage from a safe distance. Avoid stepping too far forward unless you see a guaranteed kill window.
- Target Selection: Focus the closest enemy threat unless you have a clear shot at a squishy priority target. Use
Explosive Charge (E) on high-value enemies and detonate it quickly with autos to maximize your burst.
- Peel and Reposition: Save
Rocket Jump (W) for repositioning unless your team has secured CC or a pick. If you're threatened by flankers or assassins like
Zed,
Kha'Zix, or
Nautilus, use W to jump away. If you're safe, use W to aggressively chase down or finish off escaping enemies.
- Use
Buster Shot Wisely: Your ultimate isn't just for finishing kills—it’s a powerful disengage tool. Knock away divers like
Rengar,
Irelia, or
Vi to protect yourself and buy time for your support or frontline to peel.
- Kiting and Auto Resets: Use your
Rapid Fire (Q) with full crit to rapidly auto-attack and kite. Auto-resetting with E explosions and weaving attacks lets you DPS while staying mobile.
- Position Around Objectives: When fighting around Baron or Dragon, keep your distance and use Farsight Alteration to maintain vision control. Avoid face-checking and always have a clear escape route in mind.
- Chain Kills for Resets: Remember, takedowns reset
Rocket Jump's cooldown. Use this to hop from target to target once the fight starts swinging in your favor, allowing you to clean up with aggressive repositioning.
