Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
A good Morgana will make sure you can never peel for your carry, or engage on their carry. Watch out for her broken hit box on her Q. Just pray she's bad.
Nami
Nami is great at counter-engaging a Alistar all in, or poking a passive Alistar trying to help control the lane for his carry. Early on, try and maintain bush control and minimize the poke damage you take. Play safe, and play for peel.
Brand
Brand does an insane amount of poking in the lane to Alistar and his carry. However, if you can all in the Brand while his combo is down, you should be able to win most trades.
Soraka
In my opinion, this is more of an annoying match up, and the winner is patience. If you can avoid her Q/auto harass, you can easily all in her in lane. Play aggressive, and you will win.
Tahm Kench
Not much to say about this guy. He will save his carry from your all in, and will win out on you in long fights. If possible, knock him away when you peel. If you headbutt his ADC away, he will build his passive stacks on you after and potentially eat you.
Lulu
She is similar to Nami, but without the sustain. She has a easy time poking you down early if you let her. Save your engages when you know her ult is down in lane.
Braum
This is more of a skill match up. Whoever picks the best time to fight will win. It requires your carry to bait his shield however. Once his shield is down, feel free to all in their carry.
Pyke
Not really a threat until 6. (Just have to be conscious of your health, as his ult is a true execute). Similar to Blitz, if he pulls you, he's giving you a ticket to all in his carry.
Thresh
The only time you have to be careful is if this lane hits their level 2 power spike first. If he Q's to you, save your combo to knock him up, and push him back with W deeper into your minions or tower. If he hooks your carry, focus theirs.
Blitzcrank
Let him hook you. His carry will regret it. Soon as he hooks you, your carry and yourself should all in their carry. He will have nothing to do after he hooks you. Same concept if he hooks your carry, just focus theirs.
Taric
Can't really do anything to Alistar. Pick on their carry.
Sona
An annoying poke champ. However, she's squishy. If you all in her with a combo, she'll melt.
Janna
Janna's W nerf is great, but she's still annoying for Ali. She negates your all in, and will just disengage your guys fight. Wait until Q is on CD to all in.
Zilean
He will poke you down and negate your all in. If you commit to the all in, you're going to take a lot of damage. Avoid his stun and play for team fights.
Rakan
Not really much of a threat. You can easily peel for your carries against his kit, and he can't stop your combo.
Bard
While he's annoying with poke, you will win a 2v2 fight if he doesn't poke you down. This is a positioning fight. Take advantage of their carry if he roams for charms.
Vayne
One of the few people that can melt you, even with ult active. If you're abilities are on CD while fighting her, you're probably dead. Pick fights with your carry, and focus her down. #VayneSpotting
My name is Ooze, and I've been playing Support in League Of Legends for 5+ years. I wanted to break down a basic Alistar guide as he is a staple and consistent pick for any support looking to expand their champion pool. Without dragging this out, let's get into it.
