Zilean is a champion that has seen her ups and downs, back in season 1 she would be a frequent ban because of her ability to roam with ease. Then season 2 came around and she was considered the biggest threat pick ever and would cause people to queue dodge if you locked him in. As of the mid july patch she has finally gotten the rework that I was all waiting for. Zilean now has the ability to survive teamfights, dish out tons of jaskirats, and still maintain that assassin feel. And everyone that was complaining about his stealth being over powered and annoying, now it has been reworked so that people can stop complaining about it, this rework has been great for Zilean, thank you phreak!

i choose rod of ages first because you need to survive the stealthly team assassin fights. Avarice blade because you need coins. whatever else is optional but i usually build this because i love zilean. frozen mallet because you can't catch up without your e. it is a core item

You need to max q then w because you can't do anything with e. q is boom boom.

You need exhaust for obvious reasons. Take exhaust because it is a much more useful tool on zilean because he already has one of the highest movement speeds in the game when he is constantly fast .

If exhaust can't get you away from trouble you'll probably not be able to get away with surge either. When you are counter jungling with zilean you can jump over to baron/dragon to escape. (It's a risk exiting through the tribush or exit closer to mid because it is likely that you will run into enemies.)

Also, heal clarity is a great combo if your carry is being chased. You can instantly save them by using that combo to make the enemy laugh.
