Introduction

Hi guys, I' currently a plat 4 Vladimir main on the NA server I am currently streaming daily, so check out my stream below.
https://www.twitch.tv/swagnarlol

I was silver the last two seasons in a row, and through this build I was able to quickly climb this season, and am still going. I have a 60% winrate on Vladimir on both of my accounts.

I hated protobelt because it felt clunky for my playstyle, so I tried out a mixture of Ludens Echo and the Korean Pen builds that are somewhat common and was able to create this build that absolutely shreds tanks, and one shots squishies.

Check out reddit.com/r/vladimirmains for more tips, I am fairly active on there and there are tons of other Vlad players who can help you out a ton if you ask.

Runes

So as far as runes go I like to take AP yellows, Magic Pen Reds, CDR blues, and AP Quints. You can make a good case for Movement speed Quints as well, try both out and see what you like better. To be honest I don't really know much about runes and just use what I have, so there is probably a ton of room for experimentation here.

Masteries

Take Stormraiders Surge for your keystone.
Here are reasons for each choice on my mastery tree.
Cunning:
Wanderer - Movement speed helps roams and running down enemies.
Assassin - Helps with damage in mid lane fights, also you don't need buffs, and you have no mana so the other two options don't make much sense.
Merciless - No mana, so you don't need mana regen, extra damage helps ult execute more.
Dangerous game - Helps you sustain even more in teamfights. You should be CSing well enough, and midlaners don't use the bushes as much as junglers or top laners.
Intelligence - CDR is worth it, with the 6% in runes you start with a free codex worth of CDR.
Stormraiders Surge The best keystone on Vladimir mid. I will take DFT into Galio mid if the enemy team has 3 tanks. If not SRS is always better. It allows you to get in and out of fights, and to stay on carries.

Resolve:
Recovery - Either one works here, I prefer the extra regen.
Explorer - Must have if you are planning on roaming, helps with map rotation since you won't have teleport.
Runic Armor - More heals?
Insight - The majority of your all in power lies in flash, getting it on a shorter cooldown is important.

Summoner Spells

Take Flash and ignite mid lane unless you will not get early kills. Orianna, Galio, Malzahar, and other champions will not die easily in the early games, so it is better to take ghost for the teamfights later on.

Pros/Cons

Pros:
-Good at all points of the game if even or ahead
-Strong all in potential and good roams, not great
-Great sustain with Q, manaless
-W is a great tool for escaping dangerous situations.
-Good AOE with R and E, great single target damage with empowered Q

Cons:
-No CC means you need to position well or have teammates set up fights.
-Has a very hard time into silences, tethers, and disables.
-Cannot escape chain CC
-No escapes other than W, which avoids damage but is not that great of an escape tool
-Poor if behind, can catch up, but it takes a very long time
-Prone to kiting by enemies with slows in higher elo

Farming

If you are shoved under tower one E at rank 1 does the same as one auto attack, so you can E the caster minions and then they will be at 1 auto after the turret hits them. Try to E the backline minions with a fully charged E to hard push the wave, and use empowered Qs on cannons if possible to push as fast as you can. Only auto attack minions if you want to freeze.

Early Game

Start Dark Seal and 3 potions unless your are laning into a poke mage or DOT mage, Into these champs Dorans Shield will be much more useful. Check the individual match-up guides above to see which specific champs to start different items than Dark Seal. Try not to take minions with Q unless you would miss them otherwise. Use Q to poke, and try to get the enemy at around 400 HP by level 3. You can all in at level 3 by charging E, flashing, releasing E, Empowered Q, and ignite. If you plan on doing this take QEQW as your skill order instead of QEWQ. If you can't all in, wait until level 6 and see if you can all in. If you cannot pick up the kills for sure save your abilities and CS. You will outscale most champions so not getting ahead is not the end of the world. Try to first back for Needlessly Large Rod and Boots. Or Boots and Components of Aether Wisp. Make a roam bot at level 6 if your laner leaves and you can shove.

Mid Game

By mid game you should have at least finished Ludens. Build the mask part of Liandries, then void, then finish the Liandries. Also get Sorcerers shoes. This nets you max penetration faster than if you finished the whole Liandries first, since the components give the same pen amount as the full item. Try to rotate around the map with your team and chunk down enemies. You are not frontline, but you can tank a bit of damage. Try to keep your Q stacks rotating so you have an empowered Q when the enemy engages. Hitting multiple enemies with a single E at this point is devastating to squishies so try to position well.

Late Game

Buy Mejais, Rabadons, Morellonomicon, Zhonyas, or banshees to fill out your inventory. See item guide above for reasons behind each item. Flashing in on a squishy should kill them every time, full combo does ~2000 damage at full build. Be cautious of enemy shields, heals, and revives as it is better to stay alive and deal DPS than dive in and die without getting any kills.

I try to be as educational as possible and explain my decision making. I respond to all chat messages, so come stop by and ask me some things if you have questions.
I will continue to update this as I go, starting with much better formatting because this is basically just a giant WoT.
