I have been playing Azir since it came out. I main Midlane with Ahri and Azir. Azir is extremely safe champion to play. But You will be needing CDR to your build. You can't just go full AP. You main damage is coming from Q when you move your Soldiers to your Opponent. And if you have CDR you can do it more often.

Azir 5.14 got Nerfed early game. You will be having less damage early on since you have to level up your W first. But it still works great and i suggest playing this lil Flappy Bird.

Pros:

Safe to play
High Damage late
Lots of poke
Wave Clear
You can do playZZZ with your Ultimate


Cons:

Your getaway (E) can be blocked and then you're screwed.
If you fall behind you wont be having enough damage to do much
Squishy

Farming is harder than with most champions. Your soldiers will be hitting multiple targets and sometimes mess it up.

Place 2 soldiers to front wave and kill them quickly. Q them to backline minions and kill them Quickly.

Your Passive : It gives you a free TURRET! (When it dies it gives some gold for opponents)

Ultimate : Wall that enemies can't go trough. So good for tight space brawl. Enemies can't get to you. You can save your team. You can knock up enemy inside your turret.

Possibilities are infinite with this one. Use imagination.

If your Jungler comes for a gank try to get your laner low before it. Otherwise if you havent you can use your ultimate combo to get enemy to your jungler and away from his turret. Use your Q to get soldiers behind him. E to them and use Ultimate to get enemy to your Jungler. That is guaranteed kill if they don't use flash.
