Meet the Author

Hello! My name is CuboneLVL3, but enough about me. You're all here for the Nunu guide. Let's begin.

Why Base Support Nunu?

Until just a while ago, Support Nunu was a support that just spammed (W) Blood Boil every and all day. Then, in Patch V3.01, Nunu's (W) Blood Boil ability got hella nerfed, with Riot staff claiming Nunu passively contributed too much for his allies.

Yes, back then, Nunu could just use (W) Blood Boil, increasing both Att Spd and Move Spd for 15 seconds. The cooldown? 15 ****ing seconds. That meant Nunu could just stand around picking his boogers while letting his teammates do the work, only pressing "W" once every 15 seconds.

Well, it's time to bring Booger Picking Support Nunu back.

The goal of Base Support Nunu is to stand around at base and wait for allied champions to recall or respawn. Just as they are about to leave the fountain, you use (W) Blood Boil to help champions get back to lane faster for 12 seconds. This may not seem much at first, but keep doing this for all your allies, and your teammates will thank you when they realize that they get more play time in their lanes. Not to mention they will rack up experience faster.

Now that you understand what Base Support Nunu is, let's move on.

Pros and Cons

Pros

+Teammates get back to lane faster
+Teammates get more experience during laning phase
+By standing at base the whole game, you have better map awareness

Cons

-Nobody should think negatively, so I will leave this section blank

Runes and Masteries

Runes

Precision
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush

As a support, you've got to have utility. The gold helps because you're staying at base. The CDR will definitely help you use (W) Blood Boil more often.

CDR from Offense Tree. More CDR from Utility. Greed for more passive income: you ARE letting your teammates take the CS like a good support, right? Move Spd here and there to catch up to teammates that leave the base without you (W) Blood Boiling them. Experience gained helps, because when teammates get towers or kill dragon, you get experience faster.

Summoner Spells

: Get to help teammates with map control and awareness. The best spell you'll need, since you're staying at base. Call yourself a battle strategist and your allies your soldiers.

: Sometimes, your allies might leave the base before letting you use your (W) Blood Boil. This is when you run faster to catch up to them and remind them not to leave home without your love.

Other viable choices

: Sometimes, your teammates might NOT die and actually be able to recall. During those times, chances are they will have low life. That's when you use this spell; Fountain's regeneration is too slow.

Nunu's Kit

(Passive): Don't worry about this. You won't be hitting any monsters when you stay at base.

(Q): See above.

(W): Nunu's bread and butter ability. Use it just as teammates are leaving the base to give them 8-12% Move Spd. Sit back and call yourself a great teammate.

(E): Meh. Doesn't help the team directly.

(R): If you are able to level this up, your team must be doing good. Tell them it's because you are a great support.

Early Game Goals

philosopher's stone: This is help you get gold while you sit at base relaxing supporting your team get to lane faster.
kage's lucky pick: See philosopher's stone above.
: See philosopher's stone above.

Core Items

philosopher's stone: "Again?" you may ask. Well, it's to build into something, WITHOUT losing the gold per 10 after you purchase the item.
: Absolute MUST BUY item for Nunu. Combined with your (W) Blood Boil, your teammates will have super increased Move Spd to get back to lane defend your nexus faster. TIP: Get this after the second philosopher's stone to maximize gold income. If you upgrade your first, you lose the gold per 10 until you get it again.

Situational

: After you have your core item, you can choose to buy this for CDR and to catch up to allies faster in case they leave the base without your (W) Blood Boil.
: This orange sticker can help teammates run towards you faster when they spawn, assuming you are standing at the edge of the base.
: If you aren't making as much money as you'd like from the gold per 10 items, invest in this red flag to gain some money while still sitting at base.

Your Role Throughout the Game

Early Game

Use your (W) Blood Boil every time your teammates recall back. Early game is especially important since this is when your teammates need to gain levels and eyetums. Feel free to spam Clairvoyance randomly in the enemy jungle. This will scare the enemy jungler, and that's always fun.

Mid Game

At this point in the game- you know this phase starts when your towers get destroyed- you want to use Clairvoyance on the Dragon pit constantly. Maybe if you're lucky, you will get to see a ferocious battle between Dragon and enemy champions, and that's always fun.

Late Game

You know it's late game when you see your enemies at the entrance of your base. Keep up the (W) Blood Boils to make sure your allies can get back to defend faster. If you feel like that's not enough, instruct them to get enchancement: homeguard boots to get that extra Move Spd. Remember to press your (R) Absolute Zero just when your nexus is about to blow up.

Synergy with Other Champions

Have this gargoyle sit at base with you and simultaneously use his when you (W) Blood Boil. This will let teammates get back even faster.

Have this gambler sit at base with you and Gangnam Style all day. This will let your teammates have some needed gold bonus while at the same time provide allies some entertainment as they recall and buy items.

Final Comments

Well, that's the guide. I don't have anything else to say. Instead, please let me know how I did in the comments below. This is my first guide on Mobafire. It's pretty different than making a guide for solomid.net.

Anyway, thanks for your time in reading this guide. Hope to see more Base Support Nunus out there. Just kidding. But seriously.
