My rule for Mundo is: Boots are for *****'s. The Frozen mallet slow plus the randuins slow plus the trinity speed up and your ult? You basically move like you have boots of swiftness. All of these items are essential on mundo, mostly because he's health dependent. As soon as you get warmogs 1 cleaver will take a quarter of a squishy's health. I had to adapt my Mundo build because Riot removed Atmas Impailer from the game, so i added Frozen Mallet instead. Frozen mallet is optional really, you could get a lot of other items instead of that but that just makes the enemies have no boots.(P.S. Atmas Impailer gave Attack damage based on the health that you were missing, which you can see why Riot removed it.)

You may be wondering if this is viable. The answer is yes its viable and very good but not always a good idea. Before you play Dr.Mundo in any other lane but top you should try and master hitting his cleavers and when and where to use his other abilities. Hitting a cleaver is very crucial for Mundo because all of his abilities cost health.I will admit for this build it is smart to get boots, but only because your in a lane that normally has champions that are good against him, like take Zed for example. Zed towers early game and late game while still being good mid game where Mundo takes a downfall. Mastering Mundo's other abilities isn't that hard at all. You really just need to know what they all do. Use your e to farm and when attacking towers, your w is only used when your fighting the enemy laner, and same goes for your ult. You can also use your ult when your running away due to the fact it gives movement speed and alot of it.So that's why I said at the start Dr.Mundo mid is viable and very good but is not always a good idea.
