Garen is an easy champ to learn top lane, he's manaless and his combo destroys most champs.

Items

Start Longsword 2 pots, and rush a black cleaver. Get Merc treads to help control CC. Then tank up. If fed, finish with Bloodthisrter instead of atma's Impaler.

Skill Sequence

I like to start with his Q because it allows for a quick escape early game since your combo isn't completely up yet. I then get his E for AD then his W for the shield. Max your E for max AD then your Q for the Silence/speed boost. Max shield last, unless you're tanking damage inefficiently, then scatter it throughout the Skill Sequence
