Introduction

Hello, and welcome to my very first guide for the slitherly snake-woman hybrid thingy known as Cassiopeia. Cassiopeia is a very strong champion for soloQ, however she has a pretty high skill floor and an insanely high skill cap. Cassiopeia is a champion one must put in hundreds of hours in order to master her, although if you're visiting this guide you are already on the right track.

Pros / Cons

Pros

- Very high single target damage with Twin Fang
- Amazing kiting potential
- Game changing ultimate
- Relevant at all stages of the game
- Insane late game
- Basically an AP version of an ADC

Cons

- High skill floor (and skill cap)
- Very dependent on landing Noxious Blast
- Shorter range than most mages
- Not very bursty
- Immobile apart from Noxious Blast
- Petrifying Gaze easily countered by looking away

Runes

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration

This is the optimal choice for nearly every AP champion in the game due to the massive increase in damage you get from it

Greater Seal of Scaling Health

These are ideal because they are simply the most efficient defensive stats Seals have to offer, however Greater Seal of Health is a viable alternative. Against AD champions I suggest Greater Seal of Armor or Greater Seal of Scaling Armor.

Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction

Cooldown reduction is a very important stat on Cassiopeia which is why I take these over things like Greater Glyph of Ability Power or Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power. If you are going to overcap your cdr though, you can switch these out for some extra AP or magic resist.

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist

Its very easy to stack magic pen especially with most AP mages and assassins running Sorcerer's Shoes which makes every point of magic resist count more than you think. I always take at least a little magic resist in my runes specifically for that purpose.

Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed

Cassiopeia's passive Serpentine Grace prevents her from buying boots but gives her movespeed per level instead, however the passive doesn't begin to outscale boots until at least level 11. Movespeed Quints help mitigate this defficiency as well as the movespeed helps Cassiopeia both kite and chase easier. Do not underestimate the sheer utility of these quints.

Masteries

wikimastery=Savagery

This is just a better mastery in my opinion because it lets you last hit easier and allows you to push easier, in a lot of matchups you will be getting shoved under tower as well so csing under tower becomes much easier.

Assassin

After the nerfs to the damage masteries, Assassin has become my way of negating those nerfs and helps you get lane dominance over your opponent. Secret Stash is a good alternative however if I do need that extra sustain and I do usually take this against poke mages to prevent being pushed out of lane.

Meditation

With the damage nerfs, Merciless in my opinion has become not worth it on Cassiopeia simply because the mana sustain is just too good to pass up and is quite noticeable in lane, particularly when your Rengar jungle doesn't want to give blue or else he'll have "mana problems"

Dangerous Game

Honestly this is a really good ability for surviving 1v1s, especially now with exhaust and most people taking ignite in mid and even bot lane. Apart from that the other 2 masteries kind of just suck for mid laners so it's a bit of a no brainer.
