Wukong is a very strong assassin very early on, and one of his best strengths is how uncommon this pick is. Most players don't expect how much damage your E-Auto-Q combo can do after your first serrated dirk buy, and one burst of damage can give you kill pressure or force a back with very easily. Another strength is countering ganks from the enemy jungler. If the enemy jungler is somewhat squishy you can utilize your W clone to turn on ganks and outplay them.
Your main weaknesses are subpar roams and being outscaled by bruiser counterpicks. You cannot roam as well as some other assasin midlaners like Qiyana or Talon, and counterpicks like Renekton, while they can be outplayed, outscale the assasin build in the midgame and can pressure you hard.

The main mechanic to take advantage of in the midlane is your W invisibility. Against a squishy mage like an Annie for example, you can hold the wave farther up forcing them to walk up, then start hitting a minion and use your W. The clone left behind will continue auto attacking the minion with no indication to the enemy and you can usually close the gap needed to get an E off and combo them for usually more than half of their health. Using this trick can swing the lane in your favor extremely easily and you should abuse it every chance you get.
Your W can also be used during your R for 2 purposes. If the enemy has CC to stop your chase you can use W after the knockup and position yourself for the recast. In teamfight situations you can cast the W before you R to hit more people with it and confuse the enemies.
When fighting around the sides of the lane, for example a 2v2 with the junglers, watch the wave and keep your E on cooldown if you can as using E on a minion in lane to get away can be a useful escape in some niche situations.
When going for trades in lane try to keep your Q as long as you can if possible. If you E onto an opponent and are able to get more than 1 auto off before they escape, hold it as you gain 75 range on your Q and can get a surprise last hit in when they run away.
If you have a jungler with hard CC like Elise, use your Q immediately for ganks as you can CC the opponent and burst them quicker with the armor reduction it applies.
