Threats & Synergies
Hecarim
So much gank potential, so much engage potential, put your ball on the horse and R for a free team fight win.
Lee Sin
A strong synergy, you can both set up fights for each other. Even as Lee Sin falls off, he can remain a great vessel for your shockwave.
Bard
These two champions can either work insanely well together or extremely poorly. Bard R's can guarantee multi man shockwaves but a poor R can mean a won fight turns into a lost one.
Blitzcrank
Whilst you can speed up Blitzcrank, you won't be adding much CC overall as layering the shockwave onto his knockups will barely give you any extra time at all.
Janna
There is nothing in common here for these two mages, they don't synergize in any way imaginable.
Alistar
An Alistar can really benefit from your speed boosts and once he jumps in there, a multi man shockwave into the huge pulverize will result in wonders every time.
Braum
Braum is a peel support and Orianna prefers engage supports because she can escape from so much by herself to begin with. Still, Braum has some engage and Orianna is always somewhat decent with tanky champions.
Karma
These two champions together can completely zone off a choke point, super hard to play against when going for objectives. Otherwise, they enhance each other's peel by immense levels and are a strong duo.
Lulu
Lulu simply is not the type of hunky champion Orianna wants to play with. Her wild growth doesn't set up shockwave that well and she doesn't help in zoning either.
Lux
The counterfeit version of Karma, this duo will barely suffice and there is much stronger out there.
Morgana
Morgana and Orianna can close off choke points entirely similarly to Karma and Orianna, but Morgana lacks the major utility that makes Karma one of the only support mages that Orianna likes.
Nautilus
Nautilus is a champion that pulls himself onto enemy lines, meaning that he can serve up a beautiful shockwave at any time. On top of that, Nautilus's R will benefit from the packed shape that shockwave makes enemies form.
Pantheon
There are surely set ups here for Orianna to get a nice R off but Pantheon can set up nicely for anyone. His jump distance is too short regardless and he is too pick reliant for a champion like Orianna that looks for game changing ults all the time.
Pyke
Same reasons that Pantheon finds himself low on the synergy chart, Pyke suffers from too. Mildly better for more mobility and invisible R's.
Rakan
Rakan has all the makings of a great tank support put in one mega mobile champion. If enemies misposition, they are dead with what seems like no counter play outside of flash.
Seraphine
These two can be obnoxious together but that's about it. R combos completely rely on Seraphine and more often that not, Shockwave still won't manage to find all the enemies.
Sett
Sett can be a great vessel for R as the damage continuously piles after a showstopper and shockwave. The speed you can give him is unmatched in value, too.
Shaco
He can allow for very easy over the wall invisible R's that catch the enemy team out wildly but it's too niche to consider this duo 'ideal'.
Sona
They can help each other peel but again, that's not what Orianna is trying to do. Fighting for the big teamfight ult is what she wants and Sona doesn't do anything to help that happen.
Soraka
Soraka is one of the truest support mages in the game, making her also one of Orianna's most hated supports in the game. She doesn't even have a solid CC which some other mage supports can at least offer. By far, the worst synergy outside of gargantuan heals.
Swain
Swain is more of a solo mage in the sense that he doesn't need Orianna to be there to help him win a fight. Although this is support Swain we are talking about, you can only hope for a stray shockwave into Swain ultimate, at best.
Taric
Taric is similar to Braum in that he is decently tanky and has some engage potential but is otherwise completely a front to back peel support. You don't want to ult the massive Cho'gath running at you and no one else because you're fighting front to back, you want to catch the carries in the back!
Thresh
The Box can be devastating for enemies but that's only if Thresh can hit a multi-man one, which is unlikely to begin with. Still, he opens a lot of opportunities for Orianna to be wild with his lantern.
Vel'Koz
These champions don't work well together except for shockwave into the life disintegration ray, which is not nearly enough to pick a champion for Orianna.
Xerath
It's Vel'kox but without the smidgen of usefulness.
Zilean
His poke may be inconsequential even when paired with Orianna, but the double speed boost can ensure whoever is caught can survive. These two are fun to play with, but often, they don't care for each other that much as their objectives are so much different.
Amumu
Team fights can not be lost with this insane duo.
Dr. Mundo
Orianna can make Mundo into even more of a menace than he already is with crazy speed boosts. Mundo's pure running can allow shockwave to catch multiple targets, always fun.
Ekko
Ekko is an assassin who thrives off of picks and multi man W's but even he can't jump into multiple people. Orianna and Ekko can work to some extent, but success will definitely vary.
Evelynn
Orianna doesn't set ganks up for Evelynn in the slightest nor does Evelynn's invisibility matter for shockwaves as she is revealed when too close. The chance may still loom, though.
Fiddlesticks
The master of popping out of vision, if you can get the two ultimate's with each other, expect a bloody team fight in your team's favor.
Gragas
Gragas can't infiltrate enemy lines as well as other tanks can. He is good at dividing fights but that can really mess with getting a fight changing shockwave in there.
Graves
While a shockwave can shock enemies if they are in Graves' smoke screen, this duo doesn't do anything out of the ordinary otherwise.
Ivern
Initially, Ivern's ganks are about sustaining through fights and edging it out. This duo may be able to that quite often, but their goals are too misaligned to ever come together well.
Jarvan IV
Jarvan and Orianna are an ideal synergy for many reasons. The most obvious being the easy shockwave setup and setting Jarvan's ganks up with slows and shields quite nicely.
Jax
A champion that swings and dodges all others out of his way, Orianna is sure to let this champion do his thing while setting up her entire team with shockwave.
Karthus
Orianna can slow enemies and make Karthus faster, but that's the end of the line for this duo.
Kayn
Both Red and Blue Kayn have something to gain from pairing up with Orianna in the mid-jungle synergy. Still, though, it isn't overwhelming and ok at best.
Kindred
If you can shockwave enemies outside of Lamb's Respite, you can theoretically get a clean and easy fight. In practice, however, it is much harder to do than said and will even thwart your shockwaves a great deal. The risk is too high.
Lillia
Your speed boosts can help her out and shockwaves are guaranteed by Lillia's ultimate. Her ults won't hit the desirable amount of people, though, neither will it always hit, making this duo a 50/50 often.
Master Yi
Master Yi can run into a fight with Orianna's ball on him and wreck havoc, but at the same time, may be too squishy to unlock Orianna's full potential.
Nocturne
Coming out of nowhere, Nocturne with an Orianna ultimate will make whoever their poor target is flash, if not just die instantly.
Nunu & Willump
Nunu and Orianna work together to a very minimal extent. The best you can do, is make him faster.
Olaf
Olaf benefits from the enchanter like abilities of Orianna and can run into a team and allow Orianna's shockwave to do its optimal job. Unfortunately, he has no crowd control, holding him back from being truly ideal.
Poppy
Poppy is hard to work with, but work-able nonetheless.
Rek'Sai
Rek'sai can not jump into multiple people regardless of her build. She will be melted and Orianna will never get her shockwave off.
Sejuani
Sejuani's crowd control can help out with both peeling and engaging, Orianna's favorite words in the world. She can't infiltrate the backline which is what Orianna would like, but at least she offers some refreshing variety.
Shyvana
Orianna, for the final time, does not work well with these champions who have massive aoe damage. Yes, she can set it up, but it will be so rare that you find the sheer mass of people/the correct people, that it may as well never happen. Shyvanna can jump in to set up shockwave, but even that's a tad bit too risky.
Skarner
Skarner wants to pull people in, Orianna wants to pull many people together. Speed boosts are cool, but not enough to justify the pairing.
Brand
Aoe damage, yes, but chances it'll happen more than once a game, almost zero. Don't do it for the one combo.
Maokai
Mao'kai is the type of tank that takes one on at a time. If the enemies block any of the root for the carries, they will run from your ball and out put damage whilst you guys front to back, less than ideal for Orianna.
Nami
No peel of whatever kind that Orianna wants, neither does she have any type of crowd control that utilizes shockwave.
Rell
Orianna and Rell basically have the same means of engage, which means twice the insanity when Rell runs in there and does her thing.
Senna
She's a marskman that has no special interactions with Orianna's kit whatsoever.
Yuumi
Yuumi actually isn't bad for Orianna at all. The way she roots can set up massive shockwaves and the peel is exactly the type Orianna likes, high speed boosts and crazy heals/shields.
Zyra
Another mage support, another support that does virtually nothing for the lady of clockwork.
Elise
You don't have any hard CC to make her ganks easy and she will never be jumping into a bunch of people just so you can shockwave. Terrible synergy.
Kha'Zix
The roach can allow for some invisible shockwave's but is otherwise completely the opposite of what Orianna wants. Isolation? What's that?
Nidalee
Like the other assassins, she won't be jumping headfirst into anyone to get Orianna's shockwave. On the other hand, she does benefit from Orianna's peel and slows.
Rammus
This is a champion that will be running into enemies for your shockwave. Carries will almost always avoid him, though, and tanks only are not good enough targets for the shockwave.
Rengar
His surprise factor is nothing like Kha'zix's. He can appear out of nowhere, but doesn't care if you are with your team. He might get bursted, but he'll take one with him and set up a beauty of a shockwave.
Taliyah
Taliyah offers damage and nothing else. Orianna doesn't want any of that, she has an ADC for a reason. She needs engage, crowd control, and speed based peel, not some more pure AP.
Trundle
Trundle is more of a bruiser than a tank, which means he can benefit from Orianna's buffs and set up her plays. Alas, he is not "ideal", though because his motif is not engage.
Udyr
This duo is unescapable.
Vi
Dashing through the air, Vi will be the source of many a game changing shockwaves, ensuring multi man knock ups or great catches each time without exception.
Viego
Another champion that does nothing but hit the enemies, the closest he'll get to useful is hopping around for a heartbreaker + shockwave.
Warwick
Warwick can jump in and make an impact along with Orianna but is overall best left to assassins and other high damage champions, not a control mage.
Xin Zhao
Xin Zhao literally pushes enemies away. Even if he doesn't R, jumping into many people is a death wish UNLESS you R.
Zac
The infinite bouncy house of fun and splashes! Awesome synergy :).
Hecarim
So much gank potential, so much engage potential, put your ball on the horse and R for a free team fight win.
Lee Sin
A strong synergy, you can both set up fights for each other. Even as Lee Sin falls off, he can remain a great vessel for your shockwave.
