Introduction
Sion is a very versatile champion. There are many builds for Sion support but one I've had a lot of success with is Everfrost Sion. In lane you can poke really well with E + Comet. Once you get Everfrost you have an easy time making catches or peeling for your team. With the item haste rune the Everfrost active is on a 20 seconds cooldown. You'll usually be able to use it twice per fight or for making back to back catches.
Pros / Cons
Pros
+ Really good laning phase.
+ Roams are really good with high snowball potential.
+ Has really good itemization options.
+ Everfrost consolidates a lot of Sion's issues.
+ Sion is so dumb, he brings everyone down to his level.
Cons
- Relies a lot on team.
- Very aggressive play.
- Very skillshot heavy.
- Takes a while to become tanky.
Runes
Rune page 1:
This page is all about winning the laning phase and snowballing for an early win.
Rune page 2:
This page is for a safer laning phase where you don't think you can win through poke. You will provide more outplay potential with Guardian. Your ADC can also survive better with Font of Life.

Arcane Comet |
This is great for long range poke. Summon Aery is also an option if you plan to fight a lot where you can proc it often. Aery also procs during Sion's passive. |
Manaflow Band |
Fixes Sion's mana issues. Once you're good at landing your E you'll get it stacked pretty early. |
Transcendence |
It is a bit slow but it helps Sion's mid and late game. |
Scorch |
It is nice for the laning phase. Alternatively Waterwalking is an option for better roams. |
Cheap Shot |
Really nice for the laning phase. Synergies well with Sion's kit and Everfrost. |
Ingenious Hunter |
Brings Everfrost's cooldown to 20 seconds. It's also a great rune for supports in general since it works on trinkets. |

Guardian |
Guardian is incredibly good on Sion. It scales off both your bonus HP and your AP. In lane you'll want to position closer to your ADC. While leashing for your jungler, make sure to position so that the Guardian doesn't proc. |
Font of Life |
Easy for Sion to apply on enemy champions with Q, E, R, or even Everfrost. Scales off your max HP. |
Second Wind |
You can use every rune on this row. Second Wind is easier to take and forgot. Bone Plating is also an option for better all-ins. Conditioning I rarely take on support but if you can get away with it then you get a lot of free value. |
Revitalize |
Great synergy for Sion. Shields are bigger. Heals are bigger. Everyone is happy. |

Items
Relic Shield |
Safe support item for E or W max. I take this to make sure I can hit level 2 first. You'll want to hit two melee minions from the second wave. |
Spellthief's Edge |
I find that this support item is better for getting a lot of gold fast. It's a bit greedier but you get better mana sustain with it. I tend to get my wards much earlier than with Relic Shield. There is also a bug with Sion's passive where you get paid when you die. |
Ionian Boots of Lucidity |
I think these boots are the best. Very cheap. The ability haste is incredibly useful for more poke. You get access to Heal more often too which is a game changer. |
Everfrost |
Core for this build. As you get better with it, you can make game winning plays. Sion is a slow champion, his abilities are really powerful but they take a lot of time to setup. Everyfrost is great for enabling them to have their full value. One of Sion's strength is fighting while peeling back and running away. This item complements this playstyle really well. It's also a great item for catching targets that are out of position and accelerating a win. |
Thornmail |
Thornmail works well with Sion's Q and R, but also with Everforst's immobilizing capabilities. |
Frozen Heart |
One of the greatest item for Sion. The passive is a game changer against the right team comps. |
Force of Nature |
My favorite item against AP damage. Lets me move better while fighting. Laugh at the mages. |
Gargoyle Stoneplate |
Costly but it's the best tank item in the game. Gives balanced armor and magic resist. The active has great synergy with Sion's high HP even on support. |
Conclusion
Thanks for reading my guide! This guide is a work in progress, it will be improved over time.
