//GUIDE UNDER CONSTRUCTION//
Welcome to my

Rengar is a melee fighter who excels in both top lane and the jungle. With the help of this guide, your Rengar should go on a tooth collecting rampage.
This guide will always be under construction because I am always reworking and touching things up. It's nothing fancy, but it gets the job done- I made this guide to show you what Rengar is truly capable of.
Thank you to everyone in advance who supports and votes for this guide.
Cheers,

On every wall of his den, the trophy hunter Rengar mounts the heads, horns, claws, and fangs of the most lethal creatures in Valoran. Though his collection is extensive, he remains unsatisfied, tirelessly seeking greater game. He takes time with every kill, studying his prey, learning, and preparing himself for the next encounter with the one monster he never managed to defeat.
Rengar never knew his real parents, but was raised by a human who was revered as a legendary hunter. He was an ideal pupil, intently absorbing the lessons of his father, and improving them with his uncanny feral instincts. Before his mane had fully grown, Rengar set off on his own and claimed a wide territory for himself. Along its perimeter, he mounted the skulls of his slain prey - a warning to would-be aggressors. He thought undisputed reign of a region would fulfill him, but instead, he grew restless. No beasts in his domain proved challenging prey, and without formidable adversaries to push his limits, Rengar's spirit waned. He feared that no worthwhile game remained, that he would never again feel the thrill of the hunt. Just when things seemed their bleakest, he encountered the monster. It was a disturbing, alien thing, distinctly out of place in his world. It bore huge scything claws and devoured any animal that strayed across its path. Overzealous at the prospect of a challenge, Rengar ambushed the monster in haste. It far outclassed anything he'd hunted before. Their fight was savage, and each suffered crippling wounds. Rengar lost an eye, but the most grievous blow was to his pride. He had never before failed to make the kill. Worse yet, the severity of his injuries forced him to retreat. Over the following days, he hovered on the threshold between life and death. He was wracked with pain, but beneath it, he felt a glimmer of joy. The hunt was on. If such powerful beings existed in the world, he would find them, and stack their heads high. The monster, however, was a kill he wanted to savor. On his den's largest wall, he reserves a space for the beast's head, a trophy he swears will one day be the centerpiece of his collection.
"Prey on the weak and you will survive, prey on the strong and you will live." -Rengar

Pros
+ Great burst with Q & E combo
+ Powerful ganks from brush
+ Slow / Snare CC
+ Minor sustain
+ Stealth that reveals enemy champions
+ Snowball item (Bonetooth Necklace)
Cons
- Easily harassed
- Slower/risky early jungle
- Ultimate can be countered by Oracles
- Weaker against AP burst (due to lack of MR in this build)
- Always out of mana :/

- Raw POWER

- Raw POWER

- Raw POWER

- Raw POWER
Bottom line is get flat AD runes. With them,

It is also viable to get some magic resist runes to make up for the lack of it in this build. However, I still feel that the extra damage I get from my flat AD runes helps add so much more raw POWER (meow) to my burst- especially early game as you can see in my videos.

Since the build relies on Atma's for damage, the combination of Offensive masteries and flat AD runes is necessary to ensure

If jungling,

Core Build

-Cooldown reduction means more stealth, which means more escapes and more kills.
Bonetooth Necklace
-Snowball item, enough said. Oh and it's fun as hell to leapfrog.

-More cooldown reduction and armor penetration.

-This gives Rengar the durability to last in team fights. Doesn't matter how much damage you can dish out if you don't have time to dish it out!

-This is the next item for Rengar that adds to his durability, while also adding some AD and a sweet passive that has a chance to slow enemy champions.

-This beautiful item is what ties everything together. It's synergism with Warmogs and Frozen Mallet is next to none. This will increase your damage up to nearly 300 AD while also increasing crit chance (which can proc on Rengars "Q") and also adding some durability against AD champions with a small increase in armor.

-Last but not least is when we turn our Brutalizer into it's big brother the Ghostblade. This further increases Rengars CD and increases crit %. Oh and if you remember to use the passive in the heat of battle, well that's the cherry on top!

There are people who say the only way to build

Bottom line is he is viable both ways! If my team doesn't have anyone to fill the tank/off-tank position I will often use this build- however, if we have plenty of CC and beefiness I use a different build as seen below.
I am a firm believer that there is no singular way to build a champ, so don't get stuck in that mindset. A good player is always adapting.
Alternative build
Unfortunately, I didn't have the greatest team but still this build worked well against our opponents.

Unseen Predator (Passive) - While in brush or stealth, Rengar will leap at the target when using his basic attack. Rengar builds 1 Ferocity with each ability he uses on enemies. When reaching 5 Ferocity, Rengar's next ability becomes empowered, granting it a bonus effect.
Range: 600 or 750 with 9 trophies on Bonetooth Necklace
If this passive had extra damage added to the leaps, it would be OP. However, just because Rengar can leap frog doesn't mean he is OP people. It's a fun as hell passive that helps with chasing around brush- that's about it. The fact that he is manaless is also awesome- but his "Ferocity" takes some getting used to. I will explain more on this in a separate section.

Savagery - Rengar's next basic attack deals bonus damage and grants him increased attack speed for 3 seconds.
Cost: None
Cooldown: 6 seconds
Physical Damage: 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 (+1.0 per attack damage)
Attack Speed Bonus: 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 %
Empowered Savagery - Savagery deals bonus damage equal to 150% of Rengar's attack damage, and the Attack Speed bonus is doubled.
Cost: 5 Ferocity
Cooldown: None
Physical Damage: 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 (+2.5 per attack damage)
Attack Speed Bonus: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 %

Battle Roar - Rengar lets out a battle roar, damaging enemies and gaining bonus armor and magic resist for 3 seconds.
Cost: None
Cooldown: 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 seconds
Magic Damage: 75 / 120 / 165 / 210 / 255 (+1.0 per ability power)
Bonus Armor & Magic Resist: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60
Empowered Battle Roar - Battle Roar also heals Rengar for 15% of his maximum health.
Cost: 5 Ferocity
Cooldown: None
Magic Damage: 75 / 120 / 165 / 210 / 255 (+1.0 per ability power)
Bonus Armor & Magic Resist: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60
Hmm, this ability isn't for AD Rengar. It is his bread and butter for AP Rengar (which I will explain more on at a later date). Use this for an extra boost in armor/magic resist to help survive brawls. This along with the beefiness from this build should be enough to help you outlast your opponent. However, DO NOT accidentally misclick this as full Ferocity when trying to burst an opponent. You are more than useless if you do so.

Bola Strike - Rengar throws a bola at his target, slowing them for 2.5 seconds. The slow decays over the duration.
Cost: None
Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 seconds
Physical Damage: 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 (+0.7 per bonus attack damage)
Slow: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 %
Empowered Bola Strike - Bola Strike initially roots his target for 1 second. The slow is applied in full after the 1 second, and decays over the remaining 1.5 seconds. Crowd control reduction will reduce each duration separately.
Cost: 5 Ferocity
Cooldown: None
Physical Damage: 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 (+0.7 per bonus attack damage)
Slow: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 %
Use this to slow/stun an escaping champion or to escape from an enemy champion. Sometime I will initiate a gank with this-which triggers my Ferocity at which point I burst down the poor soul with my "Q".

Thrill of the Hunt (Ultimate) - Rengar activates his predatory instincts, stealthing and revealing all enemy Champions in a large radius around him. He gains movement speed and generates 1 Ferocity per 0.75s while stealthed. Lasts 7 seconds or until he uses an ability.
Cost: None
Vision Radius: 2000 / 3000 / 4000
Cooldown: 120 / 85 / 50 seconds
Movement Speed Bonus: 10 / 15 / 20 %
I love this ult, is there more to say? At full build the cooldown is 30 seconds. That's basically a kill every 30 seconds. The name of this guide is a result of this ult- Rengars specialty=to seek and destroy. The more opportunity to do this the better. You can even see the enemy champions cute little hearts :D, yummy.

Jungling

If you're jungling grab smite, don't ask questions. Rengar absolutely needs this for his pre-6 jungling (unless you want to die to a puny little wraith). It's obviously also a must for securing Baron/Dragon and stealing enemy buffs.

People like to counter-jungle Rengar. Grab flash to get away or get in for the kill. The amount of times I have flashed in for a kill or into brush to then leap in for a kill have been numerous. Flash on Rengar is a must.
Solo Top

None shall escape.

Versatile spell used for escaping and closing in for the kill. Pretty standard for the reasons stated above.

I will post a temporary FB video till I put together something legit. I literally recorded this just before the post in order to have something here..so I'll play a few more and show you how it's really done in the next video.
GANK MID
After a succesful gank, go back if needed or farm up till you have enough for Bonetooth Necklace then go back.

TEAM WORK WINS GAMES! PLEASE REMEMBER THAT!
Team Fights
In team fights I usually wait for an initiate from our "tank" then use my ult to jump on their AD carry and nom nom- once dead, it's on to the next squishy. This obviously works best because I can unload my burst without worrying about taking all the heat and not being able to get anything off- Rengar has a tendency to get focused because he snowballs beautifully if played correctly.
If I am the tankiest on our team, then I cloak and leap frog onto their AP/AD squishy and hope to hell my team backs me up. Works with a good team, but without communication and poor teamwork..well..you're dead.

Feel free to message me with your results using this build and we can show them off on this page!

Q: You have no magic resist?!
A: Rengar isn't a jack of all trades, master of none. He specializes in seeking and destroying. He is beefy enough from HP to be able to take some heat from AP casters (if there are more than one). However, most of the time there are only 1 or 2 AP carrys, and these are the guys you burst down first- they shouldn't even have time to auto attack!
Q: Why not Merc. Treads for MR?
A: My ult has saved me/got me the kill far more often that merc treads. With a full build you will be ulting every 30 seconds..that's just ridiculous.

The guide is far from done, but hopefully this is enough to get you by. Just try the build out and let me know what you think. Remember

Thanks for stopping by, keep checking back for more on our fuzzy friend
