High damage in the early levels, you will never be able to fight him, and it can be hard to out push him unless you get the second blue buff. Try to push and roam.
Ahri
Not that bad because taunt denies her from dashing in, and the damage reduction from W mitigates her burst. You can pretty easily keep her pushed especially with blue buff, as well as great gank assist on her pre-6 call your jungler over.
Akali
Can be annoying, she tends to not fight you until 6 and although she can't really kill you, you will never kill her if she is good, try to roam.
Anivia
Pre-6 keep her pushed in, she struggles farming under tower. If you get to level 6 be careful roaming because she can deny you like crazy.
Annie
Cannot touch you, you will out damage her at all stages of the game and with your resist stats from aftershock and damage reduction from your W you wont die.
Aurelion Sol
You can pretty easily get on top of him with E and have nice gank set-up on him at all stages of the game. Try to follow his roams once you are level 6.
Azir
I haven't played against this match up that much, but I imagine the lane will be push competition which you will win with blue buff.
Cassiopeia
Watch the all in, she out damages you and has potential to turn ganks.
Corki
He out scales you, but if he isn't allowed to roam with his package and you keep him under tower, it will be bad for him.
Diana
Can't touch you, push with blue. Stay careful of lvl 6 all in.
Ekko
Can't touch you, push with blue.
Fizz
He will cry at how he is always pushed under turret and if he all ins you you will kill him and your jungler can often come for a dive.
Gangplank
He is going to poke you and out scale you, it's tough. Try to roam.
Heimerdinger
He out pushes you, but is gankable at some times in the lane, hope you jungler isn't a potato.
Irelia
A good Irelia will shit on you, a bad one will lose.
Jayce
He is going to poke you and if you jump on him, he is going to knock you away, try to push him early, get the wave to bounce back and call for a gank depending on the junglers.
Karma
High base damages, dependent on if she can land her Q's
Karthus
He can't touch you, just push and roam.
Kassadin
He counters the very idea of Galio, don't fight him, actually just dodge.
Katarina
She will never kill you, try not to let her roam.
LeBlanc
She has one-shot potential level 2, after that nothing. Push and roam, play kind of safe early.
Lissandra
Trash.

Any good player will destroy you. The counter play is the opponents skill.
Lulu
Boring you won't do anything in lane and she is a useful champion later on.
Lux
Dependent on dodging and landing abilities, still favors you.
Malzahar
Pretty annoying just push him, he'll push you, but you won't kill each other without ganks. Try to scale and out team fight him. Take a more supportive role.
Morgana
Has potential to out push you, try to get some ganks after baiting out her Black Shield.
Nocturne
He does actually out push you, and out roam you, just dodge.
Orianna
Get some ganks, push. Roam.
Riven
A good riven is gonna crush you, dont fight her and roam.
Ryze
Special Olympics Ryze. Don't underestimate his damage though.
Swain
Basically you + vladimir, so yeah, gl.
Syndra
Deny her burst and get ganks or push and roam.
Taliyah
She is better in the jungle anyways. But just match her shove.
Talon
Watch the lvl 2 all in, take W second. Try to match his push. Get second blue buff. Follow his roams, but make sure he's not just going to turn on you.
Twisted Fate
Twisted fate's ult CD is lower than yours. Keep that in mind.
Veigar
You should win lane, but he out scales you.
Vel'Koz
He does true damage, careful. Push and roam.
Viktor
He can out push you. But you can kill him with ganks.
Vladimir
Push and roam.He does outscale you though.
Wukong
Watch for all in, push and roam but don't over extend while pushing.
Xerath
He out pushes you, get ganks and win lane.
Yasuo
Just roam.
Zed
A good zed can be annoying. But you can win lane with ganks and good roam timings.
I go by Galiolover68 over here, but you might know me by summoner name, I Don't Play Lux. I am hard stuck Gold V right now, but have high hopes for the future. Galio has been one of my favorite Champions ever since I started playing League of Legends. He was strong earlier in the season, but has been falling of lately. I do still think that Galio has potential to be a strong a solo-queue and clash champion that is great to have in anyone's champion pool.

Aftershock is great on Galio as the damage scales with AP, and it adds to toughness.
Bone plating is a must on every champ right now.
Chrysalis is a great rune adds to level toughness.
Unflinching is good for a flash engage (W -> flash -> release W)
For a secondary tree, manaflow band tries to stop his mana problems.
Water walking is important for the game changing roams bot lane.

Your passive and your Q is your damage. Every ability you hit reduces the cool down of your passive. So when your passive is up you create maximum damage when you auto then use your abilities to reduce the cool down.
An IDEAL combo when close to your opponent is AA->Q->E->AA
If you add the W afterwards to chain it to guarantee the aftershock damage. If you cheese with ignite you can net yourself a lot of unexpected kills.
Remember that Galio ultimate goes to the location where you initially targeted the ultimate.
