Intro
This is my first guide, so if you have some feedback i'll be happy to read it so I can improve this and my future guides.
Garen is one of easiest champions to learn toplane/tank with. He's one of the cheapest champions in the game atm (450 IP). He has an easy to use kit that give him damage and tankyness at the same time. But even tho he has a simple kit it doesn't mean he's useless in ranked, far from he remains one of the most populair picks in bronze/silver elo. And even on the higher elo's you still see people play him. He's a fun to use champion, and if you wanna learn toplane/tank Garen is a perfect choise for you!
Pros:
- Easy to use
- Good amount of damage when building full tank.
- Hard to cc with his Q speed buff and W cc duration reduced.
- Very sexy looking.
- One of the best dances in game.
Cons:
- Expensive Build.
- People whining on how overpowered garen is in chat.
- More of an engager type tank, not so much a protect the carry type tank.

Start:
Doran's Shield This is my go to starting item for a couple of reasons, first it stacks with Perseverance second it give's bonus health and that's always very good for toplaners.
First item:
This depends on who you're against,
Against AD/True Damage: Randuin's Omen
Against AP: Spirit Visage
Boots:
This also depends on who you're against and/or who's fed on the enemy team at the time.
Against AD/True Damage: Ninja Tabi
Against AP: Mercury's Treads
3th Item:
Get either a Randuin's Omen or Spirit Visage depending on what you got as first.
4th/5th and 6th item:
This depends on how the game is going, if it's going normal without anyone really fed or if they have a fed AP get a Hexdrinker. After that you can either get a Warmog's Armor if no one is fed or build your Hexdrinker into a Maw of Malmortius. Your last item depends on your 5th item, just get the other item last.
