Grandmasters Mid Yone Guide by Yasukeh

By Yasukeh
Hello! I'm Yasukeh, formerly known as Yasubro. You know who else is Yasubro? Yone. I've been Masters/Grandmasters since Season 8. My top 3 champions played are Tryndamere/ Yasuo/ Master Yi. I played Yasuo from the minute he came out, and when I saw Yone, I knew this was my champion. After all, I did write a poem for Yone in 2015 as a school project

I have peaked 356LP Grandmasters this season, 2 wins from challenger with 22LP gains.

If you would like to check me out elsewhere, You can find me at:

I will be continually updating this guide to add more information, such as Matchups/Mid game/Late game/etc. soon, along with making the guide nicer to look at in general. Stay tuned!

If you have any questions about anything in the guide, or about Yone in general, don't hesitate to hop by my stream and ask! If I'm not streaming, I can answer any question on discord! Let me know what sections and information you would like me to add!

I'll be doing unranked to Grandmasters playing Yone whenever up!

Safe Sustain Runes Fleet Footwork/ Overheal/ Legend: Alacrity/ Coup de Grace + Second Wind/ Revitalize

Yone has one of the most dangerous early laning phases in the game. Unlike his brother Yasuo, who has a shield passive to absorb poke, Yone doesn't have any tools to prevent champions from forcing you out of lane. You lose the majority of matchups early, especially against good players. Taking as much sustain as you can through runes allows you to comfortably and reliably reach your later item spikes, and actually be able to play the game. Since Yone is so punishable in lane, you often can't afford to take a Conqueror page, which would give you more damage at the drawback of not being able to get past laning.

Yone has enough damage in his kit to not need conqueror, but he needs to be able to survive lane, which is the hard part. This rune page will help you do that.

Fleet Footwork give you a lot of sustain in lane, and the MS also helps you stick to enemies and dodge skillshots. This sustain greatly helps Yone's poor early laning.

Overheal gets you more out of your sustain in the form of being harder to burst down. This shield gives you an extra layer of protection when you want to take trades, which is incredibly valuable. You access this shield very regularly especially after you complete Death's Dance.

Legend: Alacrity gives you attack speed, which also lowers the cooldowns of your Mortal Steel and Spirit Cleave. If you really needed Tenacity, you can go Legend: Tenacity, but the situations in which it's more useful are rare.

Coup De Grace gives you more damage to help finish enemies off. It's just the rune that will give you the most damage out of all choices in this slot.

Secondary Runes

Second Wind gives you a very healthy amount of sustain in lane naturally, and helps you get through the rougher parts of the game. Having more health means that you can trade more, and not get punished for it.

Revitalize applies to all healing from Fleet Footwork, as well as healing from [{Death's Dance]].

These secondary runes give you the best sustain which helps you reach your item spikes easier.
